    About Adie C.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE: I began my teaching career in 2010 as a sectional coach through "Tucson Jr. Strings," of which I am an alumni. I have since been invited as a guest clinician for a number of local orchestra programs. I also volunteer my talents as a violist for the church choirs of St. Christopher and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, under the direction of Dominic Muller, and as a volunteer violin instructor through Tucson Summer Music. In order to teach music fundamentals in a fun and engaging way, my teaching strategy employs music-reading games from day one, as well as early entry to music theory, history, and ear training! PERFORMANCE EXPERIENCE: Since beginning my musical journey at age 9 through Tucson's public music education, I have since performed as a soloist and chamber musician in eleven U.S. states and several countries spanning North America and Europe. I have participated in music festivals including Interharmony International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy; the Karen Tuttle Viola Workshop; Rocky Ridge Summer Music Camp; and the New York Summer Music Festival (where I received their Full Scholarship Award in 2009). My primary teachers have included Hong-Mei Xiao and Dennis Bourret. I have also studied with and participated in master classes from dozens of the world's most prominent violists. I have been the recipient of awards including the Tucson Philharmonia Scholarship Competition Merit Award (2010) and the Young Musicians Competition: Honorable Mention, Division Four Finalist (2008). As an advocate of new music, I have premiered countless original works by many of today's contemporary composers. I continue to pursue my passion for composition by writing original compositions for my students.
