Many people think they can't draw. I used to be one of them. Now, I know that everyone can draw, they just need to learn how to translate what they see into an image. We will start with contour, move into gesture, create the illusion of 3D form using value and color, composition and even create the illusion of space. We will use a variety of media including graphite, charcoal, pastels (oil and chalk) and even use paint. It's really lots of fun!

How do you transfer a 3D subject onto a 2D surface? How do you draw what you SEE and not what you THINK? Drawing is the ability to see and transfer accurately what you see onto your 2D area. There are many techniques and tricks from the drawing masters I have shown my students that are effective in improving their drawing skills. We will also delve into highlights and shading, and use various pencils and other mediums to enhance the drawing experience as well. Come and see that your drawing can improve tremendously with practice and the right techniques!

I took drawing lessons many years ago and have been practicing since then. I can help you get all the concepts and foundations to continue mastering this skill.

Experienced drawing teacher of 7 years, I have taught students of all experience levels. You will receive notes and step by step instructions during your art class. . Wether you want to learn how to draw a human figure or photorealistically, I have the steps to get you to your goal! I structure my lessons so students learn what they want to learn, while also building a strong foundation of drawing skills. I specialize in figurative, portraits or animals. I have been trained in classical methods that get results, looking forward to meeting you!

I've been drawing all my life and still enjoy it. It's a great pastime and a creative way to express yourself. You'll need, pencils, large pad of paper and to keep a sketch book for this class. You'll learn different techniques and ways to see things on paper. If you want classes in the Manhattan Beach library, let me know, and give me some time, so I can schedule a room there in advance.
