Art is an incredible outlet for so many people, and creating something you can be proud of to be seen can be so much fun! You don't have to know every little thing about art to be a great artist. I specialize in digital art, but in a way that is taught traditionally. I currently work with procreate on an ipad, but also have experience with pencil, charcoal, prismacolor pencils and more. Color theory is one of the most interesting things to learn! What are you going for, a black and white image with tons of depth and realism? Beautiful bright colors? Muted fall tones or any other creation, color theory, composition and understanding of the pillars of art make drawing fun. I am a firm believer that art is not based off of talent. Just like any skill it needs to be practiced and you need to know the basics before you are a pro. Art is something you can learn forever and be proud of. Art is unique because, unlike math, you can revisit the same piece over years and directly see how your technique, style, approach and more have changed. You can build whatever world you want with art.

I teach drawing skills in any medium (this includes digital art - drawing and painting) covering any style and interest ranging from traditional still life and live model subjects to cartoon and anime. You will learn the fundamentals of recognizing and drawing shapes, arranging and cropping composition and the basic structure of human figures. As you advance you will learn about lighting and rendering techniques, creating movement and advanced composition. If your interests are in digital art, you will learn all of the same drawing concepts of traditional drawing plus digital painting techniques and color theory. I can also give you the tools and understanding to create your own digital brushes to use on your future art projects as well as tips and instructions on using Adobe Photoshop or Procreate for painting. If you are a more advanced student, we can dive into more directed areas of study including sketching, fine art, concept art, landscape work and figure drawing, all incorporating dynamic compositions and lighting to tell a story. Again, if you are more interested in digital art, this will include painting techniques and color theory. I love teaching and I'm so happy I can continue to share my passions with those willing to try something new and challenging!

I am a practicing artist of almost 9 years! Students can expect to learn the basics behind composing a drawing as well as tips for creating an intriguing piece. The process will range from deciding on an interesting composition to learning how to capture the fine details. Based on the level of expertise and desires for the outcome, I will adjust to the student's desires! Suitable for all ages.

Self expression through art is an amazing experience. It's personal on all levels. The most fabulous thing about being an artist is that boundaries regarding creativity are non-existent. The artist is always in a state of learning. Art is a progressive practice that takes time to develop. The students main objective is to learn, by drawing what the individual wishes to draw (personal projects that sparks and continues the creativity within). Materials are not included. Materials needed are pencil, paper and a willingness to explore. Drawing lessons will be assessed based on the individual's current abilities and their goals. Ages 9+ Note: For virtual sessions, the student will need to create a conducive workspace that will allow teacher/student viewing of art work in progress. The student will need a workspace with lots of light. Often, I will ask to see the students progress, so that I may be able critique and give advise on their work in progress. For short-term sessions (virtual or in-person), the teacher and student will collaborate and determine how the student will get the most out of their session(s).

iPad Pencil (Procreate), Pencil, Lines, Shading, Tracing, 1, 2 and 3 point perspective. Self portraits and still life. Gestures are also a fun way to get the fingers moving. Landscapes and cartoons or comic features are an option based on the students requests as well. Also love mash ups and daily requests or challenges!
