My first priority is to inspire and motive. Find out the students wants and needs, then tackle them head on. As we do this proper technique is a must, it is the difference between a good guitarist and a great guitarist. Music theory and understand the language of music. The better we know the language the better we can speak it. Learn songs and music is a must ...it is the reason why we play.

I've been going to Jason for a few months now and I have significantly improved my playing ability and increased my music knowledge. Lessons are tailored to what I want to learn and there has been noticeable improvement even over a short period of time.

Jason tailors the course to a student's individual learning pace and needs. There is also a good combination between theory and learning cords to play a song. Technique is emphasized to build good habits and a foundation for future growth.
Sean has an intimate knowledge of the inner workings of the guitar, and full facility of the fretboard. He will help his students exceed in their perfected styles of music.
An advance jazz/pop guitarist who has experience in performing with great artist, and a drive for musical excellence. Sean has attended Berklee five week 3 times on full scholarship. Sean currently plays professionally in local bands.
I offer lessons in both classical and fingerstyle guitar (especially for open tunings like DADGAD, for which I have published two books with Mel Bay). I tailor my lessons to the individual, but I like to concentrate on both technique and overall musical expression. When called for, I offer assistance in basic theory, including rhythm, chord structure, and melodic playing--and can teach both standard notation and tablature. One of my classical guitar students has commented, Julie "has patiently brought me through increasingly more difficult technique by choosing a wide variety of challenging but enjoyable pieces to practice. I am gradually working my way up the fret towards the 5th position. She has helped me with theory, including rhythm, the major and minor scales and chord building. Her empathy is a particular blessing for me because of my poor eyesight and the arthritis in my wrists, hands and fingers.”
I am a professional musician, specializing in traditional American and Irish music and song; I can, however, also teach classical guitar and beginning-intermediate violin. My CD, "American Stranger," has received critical acclaim and I have authored two books on DADGAD guitar for Mel Bay Publications.
I taught myself guitar at the age of thirteen, but took three years of lessons at Washington University, where I also studied English and French. As an adult I became interested in fingerstyle guitar in open tunings, especially DADGAD. I am, however, happy to teach in standard tuning--including basic guitar proficiency, classical guitar, and "folk" guitar.
I have played violin since I was eleven, taking lessons until the age of sixteen and playing in both high school orchestra and the local youth symphony. I later learned to sus
pend much of my classical technique in order to play both old-time and traditional Irish fiddle as authentically as possible; but I still retain my initial training and apply good basic violin technique to my fiddle and (of course) her violin teaching, while tailoring it to the musical idioms of each of students.
I have also studied voice, which again, however, I have never allowed to interfere with my performance of traditional songs--largely because I had developed a traditional approach to the singing of both American southern mountain repertory and traditional Irish song many years before receiving any formal instruction. This training, however, has given me greater insight into how to get the most out of your voice for almost any style.
I also taught myself to play lap dulcimer, basing my approach on the Eastern Kentucky styles associated with Jean Ritchie, Barbara Edwards, and Anne MacFie—that is, primarily using a small dowel stick or noter to sound the melody, and playing counter-melodies for song accompaniments.
My clawhammer banjo-playing is influenced by various Appalachian instrumentalists and accompanists (including Dock Boggs, Clarence Ashley, Hobart Smith, and Lily May Ledford), but my style is also influenced by years of playing with midwestern and southern-style fiddlers.
I welcome students ages 10 or above, and have learned to adapt my teaching style to the individual student, helping each one to make the most of his or her talents and enthusiasms, while emphasizing sound technique and good practice habits.
I also teach academic subjects, especially English (in which I hold a Ph.D.) and French (in which I hold a B.A.). In English, I emphasize good grammar and solid composition skills and try to get my students as excited as I am about everything from sentence structure to Shakespeare.
We had some trouble with the audio on her end, but once we got going, it went well. I spoke and understood a lot of French in my first hour! Julie is going to help me with singing in French. I'm so excited.

Many people are talented as performers but not gifted as instructors - Julie is most definitely both. She uses her keen ear to let you know your strengths, and finds productive ways to help you improve weak points. She lives and breathes traditional music and it is always a true delight to learn from her.

I have been taking lessons in classical style guitar from Julie for about two years. She has patiently brought me through increasingly more difficult technique by choosing a wide variety of challenging but enjoyable pieces to practice. I am gradually working my way up the fret towards the 5th position. She has helped me with theory, including rhythm, the major and minor scales and chord building. Her empathy is a particular blessing for me because of my poor eyesight and the arthritis in my wrists, hands and fingers.”
I can help you understand your fret by giving the basic theory needed to help learn modern songs and give exercises to improve playing. These theories can be applied to any style of music on any style of guitar or tuning. The goal is to make playing the guitar fun and something you love for years down the line.
My name is Chris and I have been playing guitar for over 20 years. Music is a love and passion and while I enjoy many instruments my first love is the guitar. My goal is to pass everything I have learned through the years on to someone else. There will be simple tricks you can do to impress people who do not play guitar to complex ideas that will make you the envy of your musical peers. With all that said I want you to have fun and just add an element to your love of guitar and music. So while there will be certain basics in theory I feel are a must to improve your play, my course will take you as simple or as complex as one would desire.
It’s my passion to see people learn to play the guitar. I spent 3 years being trained in classical, blues, rock and jazz. I’ve been teaching people how to play music for almost 10 years. I have expertise in learning how to play with a band and I perform on a weekly basis. I am gifted in identifying your strengths and goals, then developing you into the musician that you want to be. From people who want to be on a big stage to those who just want to have a fun hobby, I can get you where you want to go!
I’m a lead vocalist and guitarist for my worship team at my church. I have been playing guitar for 15+ years and have been teaching others for almost 10 years.
I spend the bulk of our first lesson trying to figure out what your goals are. Some people are aiming for the big stage, while others just want to learn a few songs that will impress their friends and loved ones. For any goal you have I can equip you to get there.
I have a few key values and commitments I make as a guitar teacher that have proven successful: 1. Cultivate an environment that is encouraging for the student. 2. Highlight areas of strength and build from there. 3. Give productive critique, feedback, and advice on how to improve. 4. Agree on a practice schedule in our first lesson that will help the student meet their goals and set them up for success.
5. Remain available during the week to answer questions and provide guidance in between lessons. 6. Receptive to ways that I can better teach you and help you meet your goals. 7. Have fun playing the BEST instrument in the entire world!
So what are you waiting for? Sign up for a lesson today and let’s get you ready for the big stage, or mom’s living room! I’m excited to go on this adventure with you!

Noah was a fantastic teacher. He taught my daughter basic guitar lessons, but threw in composition, theory, ear training, and everything else in between. She's 9 years old and is able to write her own music and play all her favorite songs thanks to fun, engaging music lessons!

I have spent my entire life developing my skills as a singer, songwriter, and classical musician. Over the years, I have been awarded several recognitions regionally as a classical vocalist, and French Hornist. I have since ranged further into vocal technique, both classical AND contemporary, as well as piano and guitar fundamentals. I also enjoy performing and teaching fingerstyle guitar(if you don't know what that is, I would 10/10 recommend looking it up on youtube.:) I am currently attending the BYU School of Music in Provo, Utah, and recently returned from spending 18 months in Thailand as a missionary. I love preparing and eating Thai food, as well as developing my relationships with natives through my thai language skills. When I consider the different influences and instructors who have MOST impacted my life, I remember their genu
ine authenticity and ability to lighten even the most stressful of situations. As your qualified instructor, I will do my best to not only help you develop fundamentally and technically in your desired area, but also help you clearly see yourself as who you can become. THIS IS ABOUT YOU! LET'S DO THIS! :)
