Hands on instruction on manual camera settings (ISO, aperture, shutter speed, white balance, etc.). Framing the subject from different angles. And most importantly, how to see light the way your camera sees it.

About Joy
I am a graduate of UC San Diego (bachelor of arts, sociology) and UCLA (master of public policy). As a child of immigrant parents, I value diversity and love learning languages. I read, write and speak Spanish fluently, and have intermediate command of both Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese in reading, writing, and speech.

Photography has been one of my main areas of focus for over ten years. I am trained in both film and digital formats and specialize in demystifying the DSLR so that you gain a good understanding of manual settings and how to use each to improve your photos.

Caring, compassion, and understanding are essential for learning and I strive to do my best in these areas.

Prior students and clients have given me 5 of 5 stars in all 51 online ratings across various websites. Students have told me they appreciate the way I simplify complex topics, such as in these reviews from prior students:

Incredibly helpful
Cindy was incredibly helpful, and really went "above and beyond" in every way. She's extremely knowledgeable and did a tremendous amount of research in order to supplement her work on this job. Saved me many, many hours of potential aggravation — I will definitely continue to rely on her for expertise with all things Lightroom/Photoshop/PostProduction for photography. Highly recommended!

Computer Challenged student gives her 5 stars plus!
Cindy was very patient and worked well with my low computer skill level. The class was very informative and fun. I believe we hit it off right away. I can't wait for my next class.
- Hope S., Snellville, GA

Very patient.
Cindy was able to untangle my Lightroom 6 update snarl with patience and humor. She has an excellent grip on the mechanics of Lightroom and communicates well. I recommend her highly.
- Elizabeth S., Middleton, MD

Excellent
Contacted Cindy a few months ago to help me to put together a slide show, clean up my photos, To say that I'm technically inept would be a compliment. At my age (you don't want to know) just about all these new programs give me the shakes. I was using a rather basic photo program and she recommend I take a look at Adobe Lightroom. I was notified that it would look a bit intimidating and was pretty aggressive. That was an understatement. Well, it's been a couple months now and I think the Adobe LR program is absolutely terrific. I've become quite proficient and the program is so inclusive that I'm sure, despite how far I've come along, it will always be able to do what I need with the help of Cindy. She has been very responsive, knowledgeable, organized and very patient. My lessons will be ongoing (every two weeks) and will build upon a strong foundation. Highly recommend Cindy.
- Tom K., Marietta, GA

I'm Sandra. I've worked with thousands of photographers and designers – from beginners to the best in the business in print, online and video formats. I've helped them find their unique route to achieve their potential. I'm quick, honest, easy to understand; I inspire you, show you steps and help grow. I can help with technical issues but my focus is on helping you see more. In teaching college classes, my main student comment is, "I will never look at anything the same way again."

About Sandra
If you just want to learn software programs, go elsewhere. But if you want to learn to SEE and become a true photographer, Sandra is the person to work with. Although software is certainly part of the discussion, software and cameras don't make pictures – you, your eye, and your experience are what make your pictures different and interesting.

And every person's path toward becoming a better photographer is unique. Sandra has helped hundreds and hundreds of professional (and amateur) photographers significantly improve their photography and their enjoyment of it. Working with her, results are quick. You will get far more out each session with Sandra than from a dozen sessions with others and you will learn more about yourself and your potential. Just bring your questions and we start from where you are.

Sandra is an internationally
respected picture editor and designer with unique experience that runs from contributions to scores of visual books and White House staff service to work on major newspapers, and the Associated Press. She was instrumental in creation of the original ground-breaking news site MSNBC as well as spearheading creation of the Defense Department's public web program. She has taught at three universities and at workshops all over the U.S. But Sandra is still easy to talk to and interested in YOUR concerns and pictures.

Sandra's key skill may be her ability to articulate visual concepts and issues, to find and convey the underlying currents and needs in a photographers work and then help him/her find the personal, unique route to reaching his/her potential.

Always fully honest, Sandra is also fully supportive of helping any photographer, from beginner to seasoned professional, become better, see more, and understand their own work on new levels. Sandra can certainly help with technical matters but her special forte is in helping photographers and designers see in new ways. She has worked with documentary, landscape, fine art, portrait and other photographers as well as designers and web site builders. Group sessions can also be arranged on request for additional fees.

These lessons will address principals of composition in photography, as well as learning the correct camera settings.

At the end of the lesson, student will receive a camera settings sheet. The list can be stored on a smart phone and consulted any time anywhere.

About Ana
I am a Graphic Designer with a full time job teaching Photoshop in high school. Recently I've been receiving many requests from amateur and professional photographers, as well as aspiring graphic designers, who would like to learn the unlimited creative possibilities that Photoshop has to offer. If you would like to learn how to create literally anything your imagination leads you to, or just use techniques to obtain an effect you have seen somewhere, you came to the right place. Whether you would like to learn the secrets of professional photo retouching or dive in the surrealism of advanced photo manipulation, I can customize the lessons to your specific needs.
On the other hand, if you are just getting started and those YouTube videos are too fast or too advanced for you, we can go through the basic at your own pace, until you feel c
omfortable with using the tools on your own.
The sky is the limit.

I learn a lot in the lesson. Thank you Ana for help me learn new things in Adobe Photoshop.

Experienced teacher of 3 years, working college level classes and teaching group summer classes. Accustomed to assisting in working through project specific problems in film and digital photography. Photoshop usage restricted to basic photo retouching and manipulation. Teaching style reflects my belief that photos should be shot with the intent that is the final product, not that it can be fixed later. Working with me, you will get the full spectrum of subject matter, from raw files/film negatives to finished, framed photographs.

About Tim
I'm a professional musician, photographer, and photography teacher. I graduated from Hofstra University with a major in Public Relations and a minor in photography.

I learned to teach photography working as an aide in the university darkrooms - running small group classes, and providing a critical eye on larger projects.

My musical teaching expertise stems from 18 years of cello performance, preferring to work with new students, and intermediate students looking for artistic direction. When working with others, I prefer to have students have projects of their own aspirations, in order to help drive their passion for what they're doing.

For photography lessons, expect to go to different locations each day, to capture a wide variety of lighting situations and interesting landscapes in Northern Jersey - remember your hiking boots!

About James
I am best known for putting a lot of life and exactness into the eyes on my canvas; humans and pets. I have been painting for over 40 years. During this time I have continued my education by taking classes from other Artists and schools. I have used pastels, oil paints, charcoal, pencil, clay, mixed media, watercolor and acrylic. I prefer Acrylic for its control, exact pigment and drying time. Which affects over all project time. My specialties are faces, animals and abstract. All of which have been commissioned for me to paint or was a result of my donation of a custom painting to local charities.

Photography is a big part of our lives these days. It's a modern way of story telling. Let me help you tell your story better. From Beginner to Advance, I cater the lessons to your needs.
A life long student of Photography myself, I have made my living as a professional Photographer for nearly 10 years. In addition to Shooting I have been teaching and helping others hone their craft for the past 4 years.
Many people want instant results but photography is a process. Despite the experience level of the photographer my goal is teach something new. Be it a concept or technique at the end of the session you will be one step closer to your goals.
The session doesn't end at the end of the hour. I provide e-mail support for questions pertaining to the discussed subject matter. I do assign homework and or conduct practical lessons so I also provide feedback and critique for photographs.
I use Lightroom and Photoshop for post processing and I am able to provide instruction on ...

About Mark Onewolf
I began photographing family events at the age of 8 years old. I was always fascinated with how things work and the camera was no exception.
I learned to shoot with Film cameras. First with my Dad's Pentax and when I was employed I purchased my own. During my time in the Navy and Army I became good friends with a combat photographer who mentored me in photography. Long deployments were perfect to cultivate my skills and there was no shortage of people places and things to photograph.
So what makes me a good Instructor? My education background is Avionics and Electronics Engineering. I am a math and logic minded person which enables me to reverse engineer processes and break them down. I have experience teaching ESL to foreign exchange students which often requires me to understand the task from the perspective of the client so tha
t I am able to help them understand in the way they learn.
I come from a Artistic family, Music, Art, Dance, Singing etc and being a musician myself I am not just a 1's and 0 person. Photography is a very logical subject not unlike music. There are rules to bent and offers structure yet has a creative release for those of us seeking that.
My clients find that I am patient and laid back and able to explain things in multiple ways until they get that ah ha moment. I am passionate about photography and i hope my enthusiasm is contagious.
As a Professional photographer I see so many bad photos from family and friends and others posting on social media and in forums. Someone took the time to show me and feed my passion so I want to do the same and help to create better photographers.
