Karl is a nice teacher. He is very professional, teaching me different techniques and theories. He also teaches things that other teachers haven't taught me, such as hand positions in the bell and how to get clearer/better sounding notes. I have learned a lot from him.

I teach piano in the same manner in which I teach every instrument. First I teach students the rudiments of the instrument. Also I teach them how to read and a bit of music theory. From that point I like to follow the students lead. They bring in songs that they would like to learn, or possibly how to play a certain style like Funk, or Blues, or how to approach a classical sonata. At every point I try to point out general aspects of music that need to be learned from the material that they choose.

About John

Hello, Thanks so much for taking the time to inquire about studying music with me. Music and studying music has always been a passionate experience for me. I have been so blessed with the teachers and fellow musicians in my life. You should realize that your study of music may start with me

More than simply helping students "play the correct notes", I help students understand music as a type of language; I endevear to teach students how to be expressive and communicative. This perspective stems from my educational background. Not only do I have a master's degree in piano performance but also a PhD in music theory, an area of study that seeks to understand the grammar of music, how it "works".

About Nikolas

I have a doctorate in music theory that I earned from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. While there, I taught a majority of the undergraduate music theory courses. I also have a master's degree in piano performance that I earned at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. I have be

Amazing teacher, teaches music theories and great at understanding your mistakes. If you have a question about anything he would take time to chat with you to explain!

Nik has been teaching my younger brother and I for a while now, and I believe that he is a great teacher to work with. He helped my brother, who had no prior experience at playing piano, learn at a surprisingly rapid pace. Nik is a very patient person but definitely does not waste time. I can also see that he is very passionate in this field and likes to teach us more than just reading and playing. He slips in some music theory here and there and also tries to help us understand music at a deeper level, which is very interesting. He always keeps the mood up at every lesson, and I could see that he would be great with younger kids as well. We are about to try online lessons with him for the first time this week, so we’ll see how that goes.
Alex
My son was hesitant about taking lessons, but once he met Nik he couldn't wat to go back. Nik worked with the knowledge he already had and as expanded it exponentially. Nik's calming and encouraging nature made him feel at home. I couldn't imagine taking lessons from anyone else.

"I am Desiree' Grandfather, and I must say in these past couple months, I have witnessed a true piano master instructor at work. Nancy, is very thorough, patient, friendly and non-threatening. She skillfully applies just the right amount of pressure to get the desired results; even the environment is conducive for music. I was just an observer but if I had to rate Nancy, from 1-10 (1 being the lowest), she would receive a Resounding 10."

"Dr. Gabrielius Alekna is a 5 Star piano teacher. He’s very inspiring. He’s an accomplished concert pianist, recording artist, and holds a Doctor of Music from the Julliard School of Music. Despite all of his accomplishments, he teaches with humility and kindness.

He establishes a high quality standard so you could achieve your best. Either by playing a passage or the whole music piece (to your heart’s delight), he demonstrates the complexity and beauty of the music you are working to learn.

He’s very professional. He genuinely regards every person without condescension and wants you to work toward being your best. I’ve taken lessons with him since 2009 and I’ve played pieces that I will never have been able to play without his patience with me. He is generous with his time, helping me to select a new piano on his day off and always finishing a lesson at its natural conclusion (not because the clock says so.)

Above all he’s a real person that you and I could relate with. And, because of that, I not only regard him as my instructor and mentor, but truly a friend."

"Our 5 year old son is currently taking lessons with Mr. Stewart. Mr. Stewart is a fantastic teacher who is able to communicate effectively with our son. Mr. Stewart sets expectations at the beginning of each class and gives assignments until the next lesson. He asks that our son dedicate ten minutes a day to his lessons. We are overjoyed that our son has learned so much in just three lessons. We look forward to a wonderful journey with Mr. Stewart."

Where is the Best Place in the House to Put a Piano?
