Chris taught one lesson to my son, then he cancelled the following week's lesson and never returned numerous phone calls, emails, and text messages. He didn't respond, then the following week at our next scheduled instruction he called me 30 mins before the lesson asking if he could move the date.

Needless to say, it was very unprofessional of him, and we intended to end our relationship with him as my son's instructor.

The thing got worse when he proceeded to schedule my son for a weekly reoccurring lesson for the next year. I've had to manually cancel each lesson, at least until Jan 2015.

I would strongly warn you against signing up with Chris if you expect an instructor who is reliable and responsive to your communications. I'm sorry it didn't work out, but the other problem is that this was my son's first experience to music lessons, so it was a bad first experience.

We're giving 3 out of 5 stars since that seems fair. With regards to the lessons themselves, Chris certainly met our expectations with our son's violin lessons. However, with regards to communications and scheduling, it could have been much better. More than once my son was waiting on Skype after receiving the "You have upcoming lessons" email from TakeLessons. Chris needs to learn how to cancel the lessons ahead of time. He rarely responded to emails (was trying to get him to stop showing our email openly to all his other students, really needs to learn how to use BCC). He never returned phone calls. Due to the canceled lessons, our TakeLesson pay date came prematurely, and since I waited until our son's paid lessons were completed before paying for new ones, we got dropped from the schedule and lost our time slot. Too many frustrations led to finding a new teacher.

This experience really helped me grasp important concepts that I otherwise would have never known. I feel like I learned A LOT in only 3 classes and I can't wait to learn more. Gil was very productive; he based the lessons on what I use Photoshop for and actually allowed us to work on projects that I had to do for work, instead of just teaching what he wanted to teach. He was SUPER patient and never made me feel bad for stopping to take notes. I would definitely recommend him to anyone trying to learn a computer program he is knowledgeable in. This is totally irrelevant, but he has cool hair too! Thanks Gilbert!

About D. Michael
I graduated with a 3.8 GPA from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a degree in Chemistry. I was one of ten nominees for valedictorian of my graduating college class of 4,000 and inducted into the phi beta kappa college honor society.

I was recently hired by NYC as a substitute teacher and I love the job. I have been asked by both NYC and San Antonio to become a full time teacher but declined since I prefer freelance work. I worked in the corporate world until quitting in 2000 to pursue careers as an entrepreneur and tutor. I moved from San Antonio to NYC in pursuit of more technology driven business opportunities. One side benefit of NYC is that one of my favorite hobbies is acting.

I am available for online tutoring. For home tutoring please message me for availability.

It is also critically important for
students to learn the tactics of test taking in the process of gaining every advantage. In addition, learning the theory is much more important the memorizing the formula.

I hired Katherine at a time when my department, and the company, needed someone who could step in and become an immediate contributor to the creative process. Katherine was able to design on-target, cost-effective and timely Marketing Communications material with very little supervision.

About Zheng
I graduated from New York University with 3.9 GPA and degrees in both Economics and Computer Science. I'm currently working on Wall Street in the investment banking industry. I have been tutoring students in math and science subjects ever since I was in high school.

"Simplicity" is my core teaching philosophy. None of my students would get confused no matter how complicated the problem is because I would break it down to small, easy to understand pieces and even a three-year-old can learn it :)

I graduated from New York University with a Computer Science degree as well. I have learned different Programming languages including Python, Java, C++, R, Javascript during college and I'm specialized in Python web development. I like Python the most because it is the simplest and most popular programming language in the world. I have built
different web development apps with python and Django over the years. And I have been tutoring students on Python at New York University for a year.

I had scored 800 in SAT Math and 36 in ACT Math. During my college, I have taken calculus 1, 2, 3; math for econ 1, 2, 3; linear algebra 1, 2, 3; statistics; game theory; R and various math courses with a 3.9 (out of 4.0) GPA. I have been an NYU math tutor during sophomore year to senior year.

Mandarin Chinese is my mother tongue. I grew up in China and have been living in the U.S for over 10 years. I fully understand the cultural and language differences between Chinese and English. With more than 5 years teaching experience in Chinese for all age groups, I can help you improve all aspects of Chinese, including reading, writing, listening and speaking, etc.

I'm very flexible with my schedule and I'm here to solve all of your problems regarding math, computer programming and Chinese. I like seeing my students achieve success in school and work. Teaching has been my passion for years and will continue to be. Do not hesitate to contact me. I'm always here to help you!

Zheng is the best tutor I have ever met. I just started with python in school this year and The professor at my school didn’t do a good job at explain the fundamental concepts which left me very confused. After taking Zheng’s class, everything became clear and I got a A in my final exam!
Highly recommend!

I'm Jesse, a full-stack web development student at UNC Charlotte Coding Bootcamp. I find that the best way to learn programming is to teach others who are just starting out and need help and guidance from someone who hasn't forgotten what it's like to be a "n00b." I can relate to the newbie struggle but at the same time I have enough programming knowledge and experience to lend a hand to someone climbing up the ladder behind me. I love programming and want to help others foster a love for it as well!
