If you’re interested in learning photography – congratulations! Photography is a fun, practical hobby as well as an exciting career. Although learning photography does take a little patience, the rewards are certainly worth it. So, let’s start with the benefits of why you should learn photography.

- The ability to record special events like a child’s birthday, graduation or the family’s vacations with clear, focused well composed photographs.

- Never missing a picture of a special moment because you were searching for the right button or dial.

- Taking photos that you and your loved ones will enjoy displaying on your wall. By capturing your special memories in pictures, you can have a way to document and pass on these memories to future generations.

- Communicating through your photographs. A picture really is worth a thousand words! You can capture an expression that says it all. Or as we've seen in magazines like Time and National Geographic, you can shoot photographs ...

About Kelvin
I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis.
I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham.
I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system.
Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc....
The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”

First thing I do before first day of class is send out an enthusiastic email and call shortly after. Briefly discussing and establishing the learning goals for the course based on the visual literacy, technical, and intellectual competencies the students should achieve by the end of a period is ideal for me to design the course or update an existing course for the student's desired outcomes. The syllabus and the schedule are completed along with a comprehensive strategy for what will take place during class.

About Priscilla

I believe You got to be versatile with people's learning style and capabilities so that they may enjoy making art. I've come to realize with the support of my mentors, peers and my family that my niche is to alternatively educate people specifically children in the arts for the enrichment of culture. So get on board with me and let's Create some new Photo Based Art!

*** Lesson Details ***
I have an easy-going, yet structured approach that allows each student to achieve results effectively at his or her own pace. Key concepts, such as point of view, framing, lighting, and composition, are taught using any camera. Technique and
process are often what captivate students most.
*** Studio Equipment ***
Must have an SLR or DSLR camera.

*** Travel Equipment ***
note book, folder, etc

*** Specialties ***
My main goal is to present students with simplified theories of art and mentor them on techniques and processing of photography.

30 Years experience. Areas: Editorial - Magazine, Photojournalism, News - Covers, Features, Lifestyle, Concert, Photo/Digital Illustration. Commercial, VIP, Celebrity, Red Carpet, Real Estate, Event.

I can cover just the photo/camera end for you. And, or, can teach you the digital computer skills you need to bring you images to the next level.

I will teach you how to reveal your own photographic "eye". That is, now to use the camera as an extension of your expression, how to take what you see, and put inside a frame.

I teach photography concepts from the art form, and from basic through advanced technical and aesthetic.

You will learn how a camera lens is much much more than just a zoom closer/farther tool for your scene. The lens you choose is vital towards helping you achieve the vision you are bringing to your work. Camera exposure is similar.

I will also teach you how to "see" your scene or subject as "values" of shades of black, white, and the grays between. This ...

About Richard
I can't wait to work with you! I am passionate about the subjects I teach, and find nothing can compare to seeing a student "get it", so they may too enjoy the passion that comes from learning and doing something they love.

Everything I teach I've learned most completely by doing as a Professional, and find great reward in sharing my experience and knowledge with my students.

When the "aha" light goes on, it's truly a wonderful moment for me, and encourages me to drive my students to build towards more of those moments as students, and then ultimately, for themselves as they learn to grow for themselves.

Lessons offered for all levels of skill. It doesn't matter if you consider yourself to be a beginner or a more advanced photographer.

About Sam
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Since I schedule classes through other outlets my availability varies. I've marked availability only to make my profile visible to potential students so, the availability you see is not my actual availability. Since my availability is never fixed and I'd like to avoid disappointing booking experiences, please contact me at 202-559-7981 to check my availability. If we can confirm a meeting time, I'll mark that availability on the Take Lessons site and you can book and confirm our meeting through there.

Thank you for considering me in your search for photography instruction.

It doesn't matter whether you use a film or digital camera. The camera is a tool that you use to create photographs.

During your photography class with me you’ll learn to use your camera and you’ll learn the skills that you need to
use your camera effectively and with confidence.

If you’re just getting started or a more advanced photographer, I offer a variety of photography courses that are geared toward a wide range of skill levels and interests.

My approach to teaching has been shaped by my photography teachers and by my experience working as a professional photographer. While I learned a lot about the craft of photography from good teachers, I learned to be a photographer by using my camera and mindfully applying what I learned from my teachers during the process of creating a photograph.

I think the best way to learn something is to learn by doing it and I make sure that we have plenty of time to practice what we cover during our time together in class. If you’re in a multi-week class, you’ll get homework too. Homework aimed at getting you to utilize the lessons we cover in class so you can create photographs that are uniquely your own.

As a participant in my photography classes you’ll get a good understanding of the material being presented in addition to hands on practical experience. What you won’t get are my judgments about your work, instead you’ll be encouraged to formulate your own opinions about your work and then I’ll offer you guidance based on your personal goals in photography.

Whether you are using a film SLR, a digital SLR (DSLR ), or another type of camera, I’ll help you to be the best photographer that you can be.

Courses are offered in Washington, DC or online. Private instruction and custom group workshops are also available.

About Jacob

I have over a decade of exposure to the rapidly-adapting professional photo and video world, with experience spanning from the smallest of freelance jobs all the way to mainstream feature film production and post. I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Jacob. My husband gave them to me as a birthday present and it was tons of fun. Jacob was able to answer all of my nitty gritty questions, as well as general tips on improving my skills. The lessons were enjoyable and I learned tons. I've gone from shooting in complete auto mode, because I didn't know how to do anything different, to shooting in aperture priority mode with much better results. My Christmas portrait of my kids will be much better this year thanks to these lessons. If you're looking for an affordable way to improve this is a great option because you'll learn a lot in just a few one-on-one sessions. Jacob was also very flexible in working with me on the schedule for the lessons. Thanks Jacob!

I started as a professional photographer when I was 16. Since then so many things changed, we move from film to digital, now our darkroom is digital, we have amazing cameras on our cell phones. We can work together on photography concepts which will help you to become a great photographer. You'll understand how to get the most of the equipment you already have. How to invest in things you'll really need, saving you a lot of time and money. Understand how lenses and lighting are the most important tools for a photographer. And of course you'll learn the whole digital workflow, so you can work faster and better, having effective backups plans.

About Fabio
I'm a published author on photography and video production magazines and honored professor at major Brazil universities, teaching video production. My passion for teaching and tutoring involves the Brazilian Portuguese and Technology. I lived in Rio de Janeiro for more than 30 years and worked with several companies on translation projects for the Brazilian market. I'm sure I'll be able to offer you the best tutoring on Portuguese for business and travel, and everything you need to be an excellent photographer and videographer.

I'm a Mac specialist since 2000, with daily use of editing software such Lightroom since it's first version.

Being a photographer since 14, video production was a natural parallel art, which I embraced in 1980.

I really know how to transmit all knowledge I have, which is based on decades of work (photo an
d video), and years living in Brazil. I'm very didactic and I invite you to have the best learning experience taught by a passionate professional.

I am really enjoying my classes so far and have already learned quite a bit (who knew there was more to photography than just point and shoot? lol). Photography is a unique art form. Your job as the photographer is to capture a moment in time. Each frame you capture is a work of art in and of itself. If you have a hard time deciding what to take pictures of, knowing which f-stop to choose, or just don't know what all those darned buttons and words mean, I'm here to help!

About Thomas
Hi there! My name is Thomas Satalino, and I'm an instrumentalist, musician, photographer, painter, and writer. I have a passion for all things creative, and I teach people how to tap into their inherent creative ability, and find that artistic outlet they didn't even know they had!

About me:

I started playing piano at the age of 4, and have been playing musical instruments ever since. I have a passion for learning new things, and sharing my knowledge with others. Over the course of the past 5 years I have learned over 13 instruments, digital audio production, film/digital photography and darkroom processes, oil painting, cooking, and dog training. I was born and raised in Richmond Virginia where I taught for 2 years with "The Universal Room", an organization dedicated to teaching children with autism spectrum disorder the universal la
nguage of music. My approach to teaching Music is personalized, nontraditional, and heavily focused on creativity. I believe everyone is able to play an instrument, take a beautiful picture, and paint an inspirational painting. Although I can teach a student how to sight read, deep music theory is something I believe should be left to the academics. My desire is to open the heart of every person to their creative self, free of judgement, and to learn the universal language of art for art's sake.
