James and I worked together for 4 months at an elementary school tutoring 3-5 graders in math and english. James is professional, intelligent, and creative. It was a pleasure working with him. He cares very much for the youth in our community.
We've stayed in touch via email and are developing a friendship I hope lasts a life time. He is good people.

About Nick
My name is Nick and I am a freelance photographer located in Tyngsborough, Massachusetts. I am new to the TakeLessons platform but have many years of experience as a photographer and photography teacher.

I specialize in travel, fine art and sports action photography. I am a life-long photographer having worked for a weekly newspaper, a motorcycle racing magazine, as a wedding and event photographer, and as a sports photographer. Over the last 15 years I have photographed local town events, Middle and High School sports, college football, fund-raising events for non-profit organizations, motorcycle racing, bicycle racing, running road races, Rock ‘n Roll bands, and high school senior portraits. I am now focusing most of my time traveling around the world and making and exhibiting my photographs of the local landscapes and people. Many o
f my images have been published in newspapers, on various websites, and exhibited in many art galleries.

I enjoy teaching students how to "make" photographs, drawing from the skills and techniques that I have learned from my real-world experiences as a photographer. My students learn how to use their camera as an expression of their artistic vision. They will learn all aspects of workflow including research and preparation, camera settings, composition, post-processing, printing, and framing. The goal is for each student to create images that they would be proud to exhibit or display on their wall at home.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced photographer, please contact me for further information, to discuss your goals and objectives for making pictures, or to schedule a session. I offer both in person and remote lessons. Thank you.

About Eric
Hi, my name is Eric. I am a web developer with just under 10 years of professional experience in the industry. My top 3 languages are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. I love learning, teaching, writing code, and building web sites! I'm constantly learning and striving to improve on my skills so that I can be both a better teacher and better developer.

My goal is to make each lesson both fun and educational for you. You should come away from the lessons having learned something new and useful in web development. I will cover the importance of each topic and explain how it fits into the bigger picture of web development as a whole.

Though learning to code definitely does take hard work, it doesn't have to be a boring "repeat it until you learn it" type of thing. It can also be interactive and fun.

A little more about me - when I'm
not behind my computer writing code, I'm often up in the mountains snowboarding, climbing or hiking, or playing with my dog.

Allow me help you on your journey to become a web developer.

I'm a software and web developer with 8+ years of experience. I'm a volunteer tutor and mentor at various local organizations such as the Hour of Code (code.org) and local colleges who are in need of people who specialize in specific areas of Computer Science. I tutor, mentor, and guide any students of all ages who need help with anything pertaining to computer science, computer engineering, and especially programming.

I've created various curriculum for: Scratch Jr, Scratch, Java, JavaScript, PHP, WordPress, Website Design, Python, C#, VB.NET, and Cybersecurity. I take pride in my ability to convey and illustrate many topics in unique and innovative ways tailored for each student (no matter what age). My goal is to leave a student with the ability to analyze, think critically, create solutions independently, and most of all—gain a se
nse of pride and confidence. All students are welcome back to ask questions.

I'm proficient with C#, VB.NET, Python, SQL, HTML/CSS/Bootstrap, Java, JavaScript, PHP, Apps Script (Google), and Pascal (Delphi); while comfortable with ASP.NET(MVC & WinForms) and C/C++. I'm well experienced with Windows XP, Vista, 7, and 10, and I'm knowledgeable with later variants of mac OS X and Linux/Unix. I'm certified in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access).

Feel free to contact me for anything pertaining to the experience and knowledge I have! I enjoy communicating with students because we both learn something by the end of the conversation. No question is too dumb and no concept is too hard to grasp—just possess a desire to try and we'll figure out what works for you. I do my best to adapt to each student's needs and educational background so that I may teach efficiently and in a timely manner. Flexibility, humility, and versatility are core traits I take pride in and I believe are required for the education of students.
