This was the first time we used TakeLessons website to find a tutor for my son. We were a bit hesitant about the quality of teachers we may find on the site. There were many tutors for Photoshop to choose from but we went ahead with JC. His description of attention to quality and ensure kids have fun while learning is what attracted us to his profile. I must say, he lived up to the description in his profile and our son enjoyed the manner in which he spoke and how he conducted the lessons. I would recommend him for Photoshop definitely and we will continue to work with JC as our time and his time permit. Excellent Photoshop tutor!

I've been teaching Photography for 5+ years and my students have gone on to become professional photographers. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to use and know the camera functions and as time goes on you'll be able to take consistent photographs. I specialize in film and digital photography, typically use The Film Photography Handbook: Rediscovering Photography in 35mm, Medium, and Large Format books, and have the following tools available for your lessons: film or digital camera.

I can cover just the photo/camera end for you. And, or, can teach you the digital computer skills you need to bring you images to the next level.

I will teach you how to reveal your own photographic "eye". That is, now to use the camera as an extension of your expression, how to take what you see, and put inside a frame.

I teach photography concepts from the art form, and from basic through advanced technical and aesthetic.

You will learn how a camera lens is much much more than just a zoom closer/farther tool for your scene. The lens you choose is vital towards helping you achieve the vision you are bringing to your work. Camera exposure is similar.

I will also teach you how to "see" your scene or subject as "values" of shades of black, white, and the grays between. This ...

Richard is so patient and knowledgeable. I am very happy with our lessons. Because of my background with classical guitar he wondered if the fact that he doesn't read music and I am renewing my mind back into it would not be a good teaching set-up. Not at all. I now have an electric guitar and the five years spent playing classical, now fifteen years ago, did not give me a good foundation for understanding music theory unfortunately. I have a genre I had already picked out fingerstyle electric and now with some thinking my way through the basics I did have I still need to learn just basic strumming etc. I understand what he is referring to in music so we still speak in the same key. Also and lastly my daughter has a severe seizure/dementia disorder that is very unpredictable and our caregiver's mom just passed away so there will be times when I just can't do a week/day. He has been very understanding. I am smiling from my soul because music is my healing path for difficult stuff I couldn't pay any doctor/therapist to even call me back for. Thank you so much for your assistance. Sincerely Teresa

Within the short amount of time I have been with Julie I have learned more than I could studying using YouTube.
She takes her time to make sure you understand the concept of not just photography but the art behind it as well. She's very informational and is always willing to help you achieve what ever your goal with photography may be. She goes above and beyond when it comes to teaching she may pack alot on at once but if you can take notes and study them on your down time you can truly learn alot in a short amount of time.

My first lesson was yesterday. Julie is very easy to talk to, which is great for someone as introverted as I am. She is thorough in gaining an understanding of what you want to learn and gives several “homework” assignments for you to work on before your next lesson. I’m looking forward to our next session.

I was getting ready for a trip with my friends to tour all over in Russia this Summer and I found Sergey and he taught me a great deal of what I will need to communicate enough to get a round in Russia...
He is an excellent teacher Thank you Sergey for your great help in teaching me I know this will be a trip to remember thanks to you...

Terrible experience. Couldn't connect online, 20 minutes after start time called him and he tried to assist, but ended up doing a "phone lesson" which consisted of a question and answer time where I had to come up with my own questions. To conclude we were told to go out and take some pictures on our own and learn from experimenting on our own taking pictures of all kinds of things. We could then download them, send to him, and he could critique.
Not what I expected. Not necessarily his fault, but Going to ask for refund

when I made an appointment, I asked if Sergey was familiar with my camera and they said yes. It seemed new to him. But after talking about my fijifilm x100F, I am returning the camera. So overall I did like Sergey and look forward to my next Hour

"My family purchased photography lessons with Julie for me as a birthday present and I had a fantastic experience. Since I am mostly interested in bird and wildlife photography, Julie was kind enough to meet me at a local birding "hotspot" in Irvine and in an hour my skills improved tremendously with her assistance. No more over/underexposed shots, MUCH better detail in my photos and I learned to read and utilize a histogram properly. Highly, highly recommend.

Note: This site does not have an option for "outside location" so I was forced to select "Teacher's Location", but Julie was willing to meet me at a location I proposed."

Photoshop vs. Lightroom for Editing Time-Lapse Photography

Once you've done your time-lapse photography, how should you edit it all together? Here, Pasadena, CA teacher Nathan H. shares his recommendations, plus the pros and cons of using Photoshop and Lightroom...   So you just finished your amazing time-lapse of the sky. You’ve composed your shot. You’ve made sure nothing went wrong. You’ve waited an hour for your camera to take 600 images. It was a long, painful process. But it’s over, and now it’s time to head to some post-p …
