I have a degree and certification in violin and piano from the Boston Conservatory as well as a Master's Degree from the University of Maryland. I have had additional training and certification as a Suzuki teacher from The Suzuki Teacher Training Institute. I am a member of SAGWA-Suzuki Association of the Greater Washington Area as well as SAA-Suzuki Association of the Americas. I have played all around the world including the Vatican, White House, Paris, Russia, England and Wales as well as in Concert Halls such as Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. I have taken students with me to perform as well in these countries and also every major concert hall in the Washington, D.C. area. I give my students opportunities to perform whenever there is an opportunity. In addition I work with students to earn music scholarships to private school
s and colleges. I am also a judge in the Young Artist Award in Maryland. In addition, I have received two White House awards for my performances at the White House, I am also a member of Psi Chi International Honor Society.
Music has been an important part of my life. It represents so much that is good in life and I do my best to communicate this to my students. I am training my students not just to be musicians but to love music for life.
*** Lesson Details *** I treat each student as an individual since everyone is different. For some I might use a traditional approach, some just the Suzuki approach and others a combination of techniques. Whatever produces the best results. My goal is not to make strictly classical musicians but to train students to love music and carry this love throughout life. My repertoire consists of everything including traditional, Suzuki, Disney, Showtunes, etc. I have taken students to perform little concerts at the White House, schools, hospitals and concert halls to get the real feel of performing. I view lessons as a three way relationship between myself, the student and the parent so that the parent is not left out. I even have a small group called Musical Magic which incorporates magic into music. I feel I am laid back but am able to accomplish my goal through positive reinforcement. Every child or student wants to feel good about his/her playing. If you believe in yourself, anything is possible. If you want online lessons, please contact me through Take Lessons since I have additional availability to teach online. In the past six months my students have performed for the National Humane Society at their animal ball, a multi teacher recital on a local stage, and just two weeks ago seven of them performed at Strathmore. This summer I have two more concerts planned. Coming up will be an all instrument graduation with several other teachers where students receive medals for their performances. No student is required to perform but if they want to the opportunity is there. All students are required to have an instrument prior to beginning lessons. If students need to rent a violin, I will provide you with the name of a violin dealer that both rents and sells string instruments. Piano students must have a piano or keyboard.
I have also started a toddler music appreciation program geared for the 1-4age range. The purpose of this program is to expose very young children to the fun of Music through instruments, songs and play.
*** Studio Equipment *** I teach at home and have both a grand piano and electric keyboard in addition to a harp and violin.
*** Travel Equipment *** When my students have to travel to perform, I make sure they have everything they need.
*** Specialties *** Traditional and Suzuki approaches for both violin and piano. I also teach children with learning disabilities.and have extensive summer programs to help students with auditions for youth orchestras and school orchestras. At this point in time I am only accepting beginner to intermediate level students.

I am a highly organized, outcome-driven and motivated professional musician and educator with solid experience in the classroom. For the past 25 years, I have been employed with Amati music academy and seven years on the faculty of University of St Francis. I am very comfortable with all aspects of the current music syllabus, including teaching musical concepts (such as duration, pitch, dynamics, tone color, texture and structure) as well as performance, composition. I am fully qualified, with a Bachelor of Education in Music, Double Masters in music performance and education from University of Nottingham. I am proficient in classical, jazz and Celtic fiddle violin and possess solid skills in piano (grade 8-13) Royal conservatory system. Throughout my teaching career, I have been driven to help students achieve their very best. I str
ongly believe that music has the power to change lives – to enhance the social, cultural and spiritual lives of people, and serve as a profound medium of personal expression. Professional perform experience: The Chicago, Natalie Cole, Smokey Robinson, Three tours with Moody Blues, YoYo Ma etc.... The most important thing I look for in a student is communication skills, as well as talent. I like to nurture students and help identify their individual strengths, which is a key factor in shaping a musical persona that will make its mark both on and offstage. I do not advocate a uniform technique for all students. Physical differences and learning styles are always taken into consideration. Potential is as important to me as early achievements and experience. My goal is to help students become self-sufficient, discriminating artists. I discuss practice techniques often and develop individualized scale routines. I encourage initiative and expressive musicality as well as precision. Above all, music needs to bring obvious joy to the student, regardless of the difficulties.”
*** Lesson Details *** I use Suzuki and traditional method for my students... for Suzuki beginner they will play a song in four days....

Absolutely Amazing!!! She was very helpful and provided great information and knowledge. If she did not know the answer directly, she would provide resources and assistance that helped during the session to resolve the question and resources for future questions. I would definitely recommend her and also use her services again.

I graduated from EMU (Eastern Michigan University) with a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems, an education that’s part business and part computer science. To me a software developer is a professional with an understanding of the business, an intimate understanding of the technology, and the knowhow to leverage both for the benefit of the business.
It is my reward in life to make a
living building great businesses and products, sharing my knowledge and experience, and helping others reach their goals and enrich their lives.
The reason why I hired Major for tutoring is that he is not only a good software engineer but also a great communicator. As a university student preparing for a software developer job after graduation, I needed to build a solid project with the latest technology as well as practice how to explain the code and its algorithm concisely and accurately. With his solid experience as a software engineer, he knows the best practice to implement features and make use of the latest libraries. With his intelligence and open-minded personality as a person, he will neatly explain the answer to my question with his rich vocabularies.

I attended two group lectures and workshops by Major. I liked them! The pace was quick and we were expected to be strongly focused and to complete several exercises during the session, which ensured we wouldn't absorb knowledge passively. Major was very careful to take comments into account to improve or modify his teaching materials. The lessons started with a high-level overview, which was helpful in putting them into context.

Major is a GREAT instructor! This is my 11-year old son's first attempt with Python (he has been doing Scratch) and Major does a great job engaging with him and adjusting as they go to give my son a great experience. He has also been patient with some of our tech issues (thank you Major)
My name is Luis Urrego and I was born in Colombia South America. I came to the United States when I was 7 years old and was raised here for most of my life. I am bilingual with my first language being Spanish and my second language English.
I currently work as a Web Designer for the Hall County School District in Gainesville G.A. and have been with them for over 8 years. I have been doing Web Designing for over 20 years though.
I am also a church minister and missionary and have done quite a few and extensive trips to Spanish speaking countries where I have had to both preach, interpret, and translate between English and Spanish. I have also done interpreting work for hospitals and am certified as an health care interpreter for the state of South Carolina.
One of my past time recreations is playing the game of Chess. I love the game
itself for the fun factor, but mainly for the social and behavioral developmental aspects of it. I believe it is a very beneficial game not just for adults, but especially for children to help develop their brain at an early age.
My main goal is to serve others in the best way possible and to see that my students become stronger and are satisfied in the area that I'm teaching them in.
I am a professional software developer with experience in C++, Perl, SQL, Java, C#, and Python. I completed a Master's degree in Computer Science in 2003. While a graduate student I taught beginning computer skills to freshman college students. After completing graduate school I worked as a SQL Server DBA for a year and since then I have been a Java software developer while occasionally using other languages.
My teaching technique involves beginning with the end in mind. In the first beginning class you will be given a complete computer program showing all the major concepts required for beginning students to learn which is about 15 weeks worth of material. By the end of the first lesson you will understand how it all works together. The remainder of the beginning classes flesh out more detail from that first computer program.
ced students we will go into the tools and practices that professional software developers use to make themselves more productive. These include unit testing, build automation, and source control management. We will also cover the language you choose in more detail.
