I'm sorry, I cannot handle this Instructor for my children. She wasn't me but she's not quite the people person I expected. Her personality is not a good match for a high school tutor. Unfortunately her English is not good enough. Her accent is entirely too strong. Also she does not know enough Geometry to help my kids.

In just this short amount of time that I have had lessons with Ms. Chiu, she has improved my awareness of mistakes and the wrong things to do greatly. She has already taught me me many extremely useful things that I had never even heard of before and they have all helped improved my playing! I know that after every lesson, I will have a lot of useful advice to implement into my practice.

If you are looking for a violin teacher, then look no further. We are so happy with Lucinda. On a professional level, she is a classically trained, well accomplished violinist who plays for the LA Opera. As a teacher, she is patient, methodical, responsible, humble and has a good sense of humor. She really makes it enjoyable and fun for her students every time. I really couldn't recommend her enough.

I have been playing violin since kindergarten, and I have experiences in teaching beginner students at SUNY Albany campus and I absolutely loved it! Music Performance was one of my majors of my undergraduate degrees, and I was fortunate enough to have an opportunity to perform a solo piece, Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in my senior year. I am currently enrolled in a Master's program for Intercultural Communication & English language education. Teaching has been one of my long-lasting passions and I am more than happy to work with various levels of violin learners. Hope to hear from you soon!!

Acquiring good habits and building confidence are invaluable when it comes to studying an instrument and when playing with others. Each student brings their own unique personality to the lesson process and therefore requires a different approach to learning. I encourage students to rely on their individual strengths regardless of any specific method or philosophy of teaching. It is extremely rewarding to see the joy as students not only reach milestones, but ultimately become their own best teachers!

About Cornelia

I am a graduate of the Juilliard School and a frequent guest artist and faculty member at the nations’ leading festivals and summer programs. Having taught for over 20 years, I have an extensive background working with a wide range of students in private and group settings. In addition, I work clos

Many years ago I was coached in a chamber music setting by Cornelia (in one hour the piece had been wholly transformed), and when my daughter, then 6, came to me and said she wanted to play the violin, I knew exactly whom to call. I was a little worried then that Cornelia might not take beginners, but to my joy, her attitude is (excuse me for putting words in your mouth, Cornelia) "Of course I take beginners! How else to keep them from developing bad habits in the first place?" Fast forward to now: that 6 year-old became the concertmistress of the NEC Youth Symphony in Boston, has traveled around the country and around Asia playing the violin with the highly competitive National Youth Orchestra, and continues to play with excellent players to this day--and all because she was set on the right path by Cornelia, who is focused and kind. She's also demanding of excellence, and wildly enthusiastic about your progress. If you want to pay for lessons but don't really care about what kind of job you do, go somewhere else. Cornelia is the real deal. Violin isn't easy: if you want to start right, start here. If you want to get better, you've come to the right place. If you want really to think about the music you're playing, she's your guy. Plus she's got a great laugh.
Nancy
A consummate professional and gifted teacher. Her love of the instrument is infectious. Her sense of humor puts you at ease.

Cornelia is fantastic! We have been going to her for years. We have also heard from friends that she is the best violin teacher in the area. It would be hard not to agree. If you want to learn to play violin, she is the teacher for you. If you do not want to work hard and be accurate with your playing, then probably better to move on.

Is it Hard to Play Violin? 4 Challenges - And How to Overcome Them

Many young students interested in learning to play a music instrument are drawn to the beautiful sound and expressiveness of the violin. The first question they will ask is often, is it hard to play violin?  Learning to play any musical instrument can present challenges to the beginning student. However, much of the difficulty in learning any instrument rests with the student’s attitude.
