Hi! I am very excited to help you on your ukulele journey! I have studied music since I was five years old, have been teaching music for the past six years, and am passionate about providing effective and engaging music lessons. In ukulele lessons, we will learn string names, chords, musical concepts, strumming patterns, and fingerpicking techniques. Ukulele is the perfect instrument for young students learning their first instrument. It's incredibly easy to get off the ground and start making music right away. For that reason, it's one of my favorite instruments to teach, and it's the instrument I recommend to first-time music students, even if they eventually want to switch to other instruments.

Thanks Ben!

Ben has been instructing my 2 kids (now aged 11 and 9) in-home for at least 5 years. We started off with piano for the first few years but then switched to a combination of piano and acoustic guitar (half a session dedicated to each instrument).

He is patient, kind, and highly knowledgeable. I clearly see the upward trajectory in my kids' musical capabilities. One of my kids can be difficult to deal with, especially when he is tired, but Ben would mold his approach to the lesson on the spot to keep my kid engaged (e.g., instead of continuing the lesson on the actual piano, he'd switch to a fun music-oriented game).

Learning to play the Ukulele is so much fun! Young and old alike enjoy being able to play chords in just a few short lessons to favorite songs. This instrument is especially great for little ones- it's a great starter to string instruments of all types. You can find an inexpensive but good quality Ukulele at most music stores. I teach chords, rhythm and individual note reading so students enjoy themselves while learning to read music!

The goal I have for my students is that they will fall in love with music. From the beginning my students will develop skills in :

-Theory
-Improvisation
-Note reading
-Composition
-Ear training
-Musical Interpretation
-Confidence and poise
-Initiative
-Attention span and concentration
-Visual and aural memory
-Time management and organizational skills

I primarily focus on popular music styles, but I do offer a classical focus if the student has interests in that realm. I primarily teach via the discovery method; Which makes learning more active so that the students grasp concepts more effectively and develop the ability to learn independently.

I understand that every student's interests, goals and learning styles vary. As an instructor I teach accordingly with custom made lesson plans that cater to who you are as a student. Whether you are studying to pursue therapeutic/recreational goals or studying to pursue professional endeavors I will help you get there.

I have been under the instruction of Noah for a little over two months now and I really enjoy his teaching style. I am older and not a proficient reader of music so Noah has had to start with very basic skills for me. He has done a great job of making it understandable. I am learning to read music and to play the ukulele at the same time, and am enjoying the online lessons.

My kids (ages 10 & 12) have had such a wonderful time learning with Noah. He is patient, kind, and encouraging as well as knowledgeable. He does a great job with beginners -- they are learning so many skills each week. And it has been such a blessing to us that he comes to our home!

I've been teaching ukulele for 15 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to strum accompaniments to simple songs. As time goes on you'll be able to play more advanced chords and combine melody with the chords to do solo arrangments. For Children, I typically use The Hal Leonard book "Ukulele for Kids". It's a great book for getting the student up and running very quickly. For Adults the Hal Leonard Ukulele Method book 1 and 2. For someone who has played before The National Guitar Workshop has a uke book that works well for a little more advanced students. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

I’ve had two lessons with Eric and both have been fun and informative. Eric’s approach allows the student to discover while learning, a useful approach to instruction. As an adult learner retuning to music after many years I’ve found Eric’s method refreshing.

This was my first professional music lesson in many years. Eric was great. He listen attentively to all my questions and provided solid answers with reasonable goals. This is my first experience with virtual lessons but Eric made the session both challenging and fun. I'm looking forward to continuing my sessions.

The Ukulele is such a fun instrument to play. It's a small instrument with a big sound. There is actually 4 different sizes you can choose from: Soprano, Concert, Tenor, and Baritone. The first 3 have the same string arrangement which is
G, C, E, A, and the Baritone is D, G, B, E, which is the same tuning as the first 4 strings on a guitar. Soprano is the smallest and the Baritone is the largest. If you want the true Hawaiian sound you need the Soprano. If you have really big hands or thick fingers you might want to go with the Concert or Tenor size so it will be easier to play.

They are very affordable instruments. The one I have is a Fender U Uke it was around 109.00. It's easier then guitar because you don't have to press down as hard on the strings.

Some of my favorite Ukulele players and bands that incorporate it are Jack Johnson, Brian May from Queen, Beach Boys, Elvis, Israel Iz, and many more.

I teach beginner to intermediate level for single and group lessons.

Music is my passion. I've been playing music since I was a child but didn't get serious with it until I was 14, that's when I got my first electric guitar. So, from then on I've been playing and studying music for over 16 years. I play and teach guitar, piano, drums, and bass guitar. Aside from tak

"I've tried using on line videos and ukulele lesson books to learn to play the ukulele. But I couldn't seem to get past a certain level. I signed up for lessons with Athena and I understand a LOT more about the composition, and how to bring it all together in my playing. She's great at understanding my "why" questions, and is very patient as I learn each new thing. At the end of our lesson she gives me a practice plan so I know what to work on for the week to improve. It's made a big difference. I appreciate how quickly Athena understands what's confusing me about something new, and how quickly she explains it in a logical, clear way. I'm enjoying my lessons, and Athena has been encouraging at each step of the way. If you want to learn a new instrument, or improve your skill, Athena is a great instructor to work with!"

A Beginner's Guide to Ukulele Notes [Charts Included]

An excellent starting point for all beginners is to learn their notes on the ukulele. As you learn to navigate the notes on the fretboard, you’ll build an understanding of the basics - so you can start playing tunes in no time! Once you’ve mastered the individual notes, you can use them to build chords, and chords quickly turn into songs. These individual ukulele notes are also necessary for learning how to play licks or riffs. In this article, we'll discuss different ways to tune …
