Margot is an amazing and inspirational clarinetist. She is also a very supportive and patient teacher. She has the knack of listening to her students and solving problems. She is cheerful and not critical.

Studying with and learning from Margot is a real treat, and I always leave with new insights, technical skills, and great stories. Margot is in the top echelon of klezmer clarinetists to learn from, having been taught by some of the greats herself, and it's clear she is dedicated to passing this on. Her down-to-earth approach is welcoming as much as it is incredibly skillful. I have felt challenged and supported, and look forward to more lessons!

I worked with Margot on klezmer style and repertoire through the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program from 2019-2020. Margot is a true culture-bearer of American Ashkenazi clarinet style as she learned from elder musicians, recordings, and community and perfected over decades of dedication and performance. She is a precious link in the chain of cultural continuity, knowledge, musicianship and heartful expression that connects us to the past of Yiddish civilization and allows that inheritance to be renewed in each generation. I wouldn't miss a chance to be around Margot's music! Margot is a force of nature that you will learn from--whatever your particular instrument, focus, or learning goals, being connected to the culture and experience that she embodies and generously shares is an amazing and useful opportunity.
