I'm an experienced teacher, performer, and songwriter/producer. I teach piano and voice to beginning and intermediate students of all ages!

My students learn not only learn to play or sing the songs they're most interested in, they also learn about the music theory behind the songs, so they can flex their own creativity! I also have music industry experience and can teach students about songwriting, live performance, home recording, production, self-promotion, and forming a band.

I have been taking lessons with Christina for some time now and have been extremely impressed with her teaching style. She knows how to break down the music in ways that are understandable, and instills excitement about the learning process. I strongly recommend her as a teacher for any child or adult.

I have been Christina's student for almost a year now and with no prior experience I feel like I've definitely grown in my ability to play the piano. She is very professional, makes me feel comfortable and is very patient! At first I was concerned how the transition to moving our lessons online would be affected but she really made it an easy adjustment. I love working with her!

A natural teacher at heart, I teach Piano, Visual Arts, and Yoga. I earned my Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Teaching and my California Teaching Credential in the Visual Arts and have been teaching professionally since 2012. I began playing the piano at age seven and advanced to honors recitals of Certificate of Merit through the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC). I have experience teaching ages 4-65 and beginning through early-intermediate levels. Beginners are my specialty and I currently teach 12 piano students a week. I use a variety of materials like flashcards and book series to teach classical, jazz, pop, and sacred styles: Alfred’s Basic Piano Library, Bastien Basics, Bastien & Bastien, Faber’s Piano Adventures, FunTime Faber & Faber, Piano for the Older Beginner, Alfred Masterworks, and Hal Leonard Songs from Disney. I want my piano students to learn to love music but also to have a good grasp of theory and technique because that transfers to any and all instruments and styles of music they wish to pursue. Generally the beginning of the lesson is spent on strength and technique building exercises. We also study scales and music theory and then spend time working through songs to reinforce the concepts presented and help the student progress in their abilities. I train my students to be able to read the music rather than just play by ear so they can pick up and play any piece of music they choose. For beginning piano students the types of songs are more basic since they are designed to reinforce music knowledge and note reading abilities. More advanced students are able to play from different styles including classical and modern.

About Anna

*I am currently teaching online through zoom/FaceTime/google duo/Skype and will resume in person lessons mid October. I grew up in a musical home with a piano teacher for a mom. Consequently, I started learning piano and singing at a young age, and then began taking voice lessons in high school

Anna is a delight! She is so knowledgeable and I walk away from every lesson feeling liked I gained so much. I couldn’t be happier that I found her. She truly makes you believe you are capable of being a pianist, and as an adult student that can be difficult to believe. But she does. She’s everything a teacher should be, I highly recommend her!

Warm, patient, professional teacher. We focused on proper vocal technique for our first lesson. It was fun, and I definitely intend to keep learning with her.

I build up technique and musicality, beginning with scales and instructional books which provide pieces of increasing difficulty. While this is a more traditionally classical method of learning, I also enjoy playing in other styles such as popular and anime music. Especially because of my personal interests, I am very open to teaching you the genres that you are interested in performing. ~

I have been a student of Michael’s for approximately 7 months. My only previous experience with violin had been one year in elementary school band class and 8 months with a private teacher. When my private teacher’s lesson schedule changed, I was introduced to Michael and was greatly impressed by his skill level and teaching style. I have learned so much more than I had expected in each lesson, like how to self-tune, use a metronome, shift, and various other techniques. Michael constantly offers feedback on how I can execute techniques better, and I feel that this helps me to learn more effectively. He is always challenging me by giving me harder pieces and scales. I have even been told by my high school orchestra conductor that I have improved so much and she is constantly surprised by how fast I am learning. I highly recommend having Michael as a teacher for anyone looking to learn how to play the violin.

Michael is very talented and he is a great instructor. He explains the techniques really well. Very professional and supportive. I highly recommend him!

I am a certified Steinway education partner with over 17 years of teaching experience.

As a professional musician, I love sharing my passion of making music with others. Whether you are totally new to piano or a seasoned player wishing to brush up your skills, I can help you develop a more in-depth experience with piano. During lessons I emphasize skills such as correct note-reading, attention to details in the music, developing proper technique, critical thinking and listening, creative problem-solving, efficient practice, and exploring new repertoire. To encourage growth and consistent improvement, I recommend all my students to perform once or twice a year in my student recitals at Steinway Hall but this is entirely optional and based on the student's comfort level.

I am very patient, encouraging and supportive of my students. All I ask for is a commitment to make music an integral part of your life. Whatever your skill level and personal goals may be, I will help you ...

Can't say enough about Yoon. He is not a mere teacher, but a mentor of sorts. Not only does he know his stuff, but what he teaches can be applied to other areas of life. He goes above and beyond the material. Teaching you not just about music, but how to learn more efficiently and how to build yourself up. Here I was, late to the music game, playing catch-up. In a couple of months, I have made massive improvements to my rhythm and intonation. More than that, Yoon instills a drop more of confidence in me every single lesson and that is invaluable. I would recommend him to anyone who is serious about getting right kind of instruction!

"I've been a self-taught keyboard player for about 1-1.5 years and was able to play few of my favorite songs decently well. So naturally after I signed up for his class I was curious about how this will be able to take my abilities to the next level, especially in COVID times as I originally signed up for in-person class!

4-5 months in, I can confidently say that I'm loving him as my keyboard instructor! He personally encouraged me to practice using the music that I love, while blending it with his teaching to exactly point out on how one needs to approach these things. He's been really flexible in terms of scheduling during this time and that has also allowed me to come to class when I'm at 100%.

I don't know if my keyboard abilities are next level compared to when I started (it has improved), but I'm certainly enjoying this process!"

My daughter has been taking piano lessons with Mr. Garcia for 1 year and I can notice a great improvement in her musicality and technique. Now she is able to play piano with confidence and joyfulness, now she really loves to play her favorite music in piano! Mr. Garcia is very professional and serious piano teacher, but at the same time he makes the lesson fun and very interesting for my daughter."

"I've been going to Brent for piano lessons for over a month now and my understanding and playing has dramatically improved. He is teaching me both piano fundamentals and jazz simultaneously. I didn't think it was possible but as I'm getting my fundamentals down, I'm also learning Jazz phrasing and rhythm principles.

Brent is a great teacher for any level of piano player. I tried teaching myself for the past year (mainly off youtube) but I've made more progress in 1 month learning from Brent that I have in 12 months on my own. While always taking into account my personal piano goals, Brent is able to identify ineffective aspects of my technique and gaps in my understanding of basic theory and has titrated the perfect amount of new attainable material to keep me engaged and sitting down to practice every chance I get.

Highly recommended for any style (jazz, classical, blues, pop, etc...)."

"So far I've had 5 classes with Marwan and I have to say he is GREAT!!

He has helped me improved significantly within this short period with both piano skills and theories. Marwan makes sure to understand your skill level and music knowledge in the 1st class and prepare the class based on your current skill level. I am in my late 20's and considered a beginner player, I was a little nervous in the beginning that I won't be able to learn as quickly as younger kids do and might struggle. But that thought disappeared immediately after my first 2 classes with Marwan. He understood it very well about what I wanted to learn and needed to improve at that stage. The class with him is super FUN.

I've had other instructors in the past but I always ended losing interests in playing after a while for various reasons. Because of that, in comparison I can say Marwan is very different from my past instructors and experiences, I enjoy the class very much and always look forward to the following week's class to find out what I will learn next.
He can be strict sometimes but because of that, you are always reminded what's not right with your plays.

I am very satisfied so far and HIGHLY RECOMMEND Marwan!!!
(But at the same time if he gets tooooo popular, I will be sad not to have the flexibility of getting his classes...lol)"
