About Clifford
'Dr. Cliff,' a part-time college/university professor, teacher and tutor with 5 master's and 3 doctoral degrees in a variety of topics: Mathematics, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, MBA, Leadership, Education and Administration. He has always used proven educational techniques to instruct undergraduate students, graduate students and school children/teenagers (K-12). In addition, Dr. Cliff is a Certified Tutor by American Tutoring Association and National Tutoring Association (Math); he holds California Teaching Credentials in Math (CSET I,II,III), Business (I,II,III), and Educational Technology/Computers (I,II); he is a Sylvan Certified Teacher in Math and Arts/Language K-12.

Dr. Cliff believes that, although many professors and teachers do an admirable job in the classroom, many students
and children do not learn well in traditional institutions. Many students and children don't respond to the assembly line nature of most institutions. He believes that a student's or child's strengths and natural abilities need to be the foundation of learning. Dr. Cliff often warns against a "cookie cutter" approach to educating students, teenagers and children. You or your child is seen as an individual, and natural strengths are identified and built upon. Therefore, individual one-on-one tutoring or help is the key approach to each student who has any challenges difficulties in a given subject.

In today’s environment and economic challenges, with shorter budgets for the education, larger classes sizes and pressure of performing well in all kind of standard tests, I often see many students lacking true knowledge and skills in a given subject, since they cannot get individualized attention during the class session. That’s where a tutor comes into the picture, not only uncover major “holes” in students’ knowledge set but also teach students how to study, how to learn and through proper guidance “fill” those knowledge and skills holes.

I did not actually take any lessons with him, but his schedule did not reflect what showed as available in Takelessons. He had a very bad attitude and would not actually schedule the lesson after several exchanges.

I need to improve my spoken German for business and Marcel has been invaluable in helping me improve at a good pace while being incredibly flexible on lesson planning.

I've been working with him for about a month now and I've grown to feel more comfortable speaking with my colleagues who are native German speakers.

If you want a native, professional teacher who can be fun...Marcel is your guy.

About Stephen
Why should you take lessons from me?
There are some musicians who teach only as a way to make ends meet and there are those who are passionate about education in general. There are some music teachers who will show you how to play songs and call it a day. That's giving the hungry a fish. I prefer to teach the hungry how to catch fish. Why you use a certain rod, line, lure, how to find fish, what fish are edible, how to drive a boat, etc...In musical terms this translates to things such as why you hold an instrument a certain way, the logic behind finger positions, how to construct chords/scales then use them, how to count musically and why, etc...I teach how to think musically and creatively on and off of the page and have a vested interest in the progress of my students.

About Lino A.
The Problem

Many employees waste hundreds of hours every year doing repetitive tasks on Microsoft Excel that could be completed in minutes with the right training. The problem is that most training companies force students to sit down for 8 hours in a classroom to learn dozens of topics out of a 500 page textbook that students either already know or don’t even need for their specific job. The students leave the class more frustrated with Excel then they came in and they also lost an entire day of work in the process. The training ends up being a complete waste of time for the employees and a complete waste of money for the organization.

My Solution

I maximize the effectiveness of our training by ensuring our students learn material that is personalized to their specific needs. By asking user questions about their job role, current Exc
el proficiency and career goals, I am able to create a personalized learning path that will help users get the valuable skills they need in the shortest amount of time.

WOW! All I can say is can you also babysit?? I have never seen my daughter so interested in a craft! You really brought a passion out in her and I am very appreciative. Brandi came to our house in Los Angeles to teach my daughter some of the basics for sewing (trying to find a hobby!) and she is already excited for the next class. Brandi really helped bring out a passion within her for this craft. While listening in (and trying a few things myself - haha) I saw how great of a teacher Brandi is and all I can say is THANK YOU and we’ll be scheduling again!

Hi! Programming is really fun! Ever since I was a kid, I've enjoyed making computers do fun, creative things. My dad said the first program I "wrote" was a "synthesizer." (I'm pretty sure I just typed in the code.)

Professionally, I started with HTML in 1995, and have built up my career, holding many different kinds of jobs building interactive experiences for the web. I love design, and building web products that have good design. I love writing code that other people can also understand, and learning new code libraries. Over the years, I worked with lots of different kinds of computer-readable data, and I really really enjoy publishing data and making it easier to understand information that had been confusing.

These days I mostly write Javascript code for work (React), and for fun I'm learning comedy writing, illustration and growin
g vegetables. I've lived in Los Angeles for one year.

I really enjoyed teaching the web when I taught web skills at an art college, and giving many pep talks, mentoring and advice to people I've met at coding events. Excited to share what I know with you and help you grow!
