Julie is wonderful. She explains the subject well, very detailed if needed, shares the prepared by her materials, always on time, answers all the questions, very pleasant to communicate to. What's great is that she doesn't make it complicated! :) but rather helps you to continue developing the love for the photography.

I lost the "joy" of photography with Irina. Technically, she knows her stuff, but her sensitivity and people skills are lacking. Barely an encouraging word. I felt degraded, nervous, and overall shitty by the end of the second lesson. Hoping for a better experience with another teacher.

Irina is amazing... I would never even think that I can create such beautiful photographies.
My father used to have a small photo lab at the loft and it was like a magic to me. I was always passionate to learn the beauty of photography however I never got the chance to.
I took few classes with Irina, she helped me to create incredible photos for my marketing campaign.
Irina is very professional and patient teacher, she has deep knowledge of photography and she makes it fun to learn.
I would recommend Irina to anyone who wants to learn photography.

Jonathan is without a doubt a talented professional photographer / artist. Yet he has adapted himself to working with a novice trying to navigate a new digital camera before a big Patagonia vacation of a lifetime. Whether you are a beginner like I am or a professional photographer looking to improve your game, Jonathan will exceed your expectations. I like his patient and calm approach to my questions and after only two lessons I have already improved so much.

I liked Jennifer a lot. She is patient, friendly and a good instructor. While she was not familiar with my camera she was able to learn it quickly. I just wish she had brought visual references to illustrate what she was teaching me. I believe she will for our second class.

Jen is simply fantastic. A few months ago, I hired her for private lessons to help break through some technical and artistic barriers in my photography. Essentially, I was getting inconsistent results and wasn't able to translate the observations about the good shots into techniques for learning from them and leveraging them in the future.

From the beginning, Jen was focused on my objectives and concerns, and was able to tailor a curriculum to focus on those aspects. She reviewed my existing work with a great mix of enthusiasm and constructive analysis, and the small amount of apprehension I had about having a professional critique my shots evaporated pretty quickly. Jen is very personable and clearly on your side, which makes the feedback cycle easy and light. With her help, we were able to break down some of the things I liked about my own photography, but wasn't making full or considered use of. We also identified a number of ways in which I could improve bringing my own style into more of the process, both behind the camera and in editing choices.

In the field, there's a lot of good dialogue about how to approach a given scene, how to efficiently explore it for non-obvious opportunities, and how to convey a sense of story (one of my particular weaknesses). As one would expect, she has solid technical skills and is able to quickly troubleshoot tricky lighting situations and make suggestions about how to approach exposure/DoF/focal length to align with the intended mood. The feedback is always friendly and typically very pragmatic. I've already found the number of shots making it past the initial cull increasing, at a time when I'm also becoming more critical about what makes for a good shot.

Overall, Jen's guidance has had a sizable impact to my photography in a relatively short time. One of the best parts about making it past some of those persistent stumbling blocks is how much more enjoyable my time behind the camera has become. Would definitely recommend her to anyone seeking to improve their own photography, or move into the world of professional photography.

I’ve had multiple opportunities to learn about wedding photography from Jen and every experience has been so positive and helpful. Not only does she help me with technical aspects of shooting but also provides me with any random tip or trick that might make shooting easier. Jen has so much knowledge when it comes to photography and she’s really an amazing teacher. It’s clear that she loves what she does and that she really enjoys teaching! I also want to add that she’s just a great person to be around as well. She’s awesome to just chat and hangout with. It’s always felt so relaxed and comfortable. I highly recommend learning from Jen at any opportunity. She truly is awesome!

Are you eager to learn how to use your camera to capture compelling, beautiful images with natural light? All of us are being inundated with images on social media - but what really makes a great photo? I've been trained by some of the best photojournalists in the world, and at 31 I learned how to use my camera and became an award winning photojournalist myself! If I did it, you can.

Whether you are using your photos for personal or professional reasons, I can help you understand how to create a great images with any camera - even a cell phone. I can help you understand how to use your camera and even get out of Auto mode to capture candid moments, portraiture, nature, and sports.

About Suzanne
Hi there!

My name is Suzanne and I've been a professional editorial and commercial photographer for 17 years. I learned from some of the best photojournalists in the world, and I'd like to pass that along to others - because I became one myself! (Chicago Tribune, Sun Times, NPR, Northwestern University, University of Washington).

I always knew I had a good eye, but when it came to the technical aspects of photography - I was overwhelmed. Much of photography is knowing how to use light, color, and moment together and you CAN do all of this on a phone.
But great photography also means knowing how to use your camera properly. I figured out how to make it easy to get yourself out of the "auto" mode while skipping many of those things a manual overwhelms you with. I teach you what to really consider when you are shooting landscapes,
portraits, events, sports or nature.

And if you do just prefer to use a phone, I can teach you how to make your images stand out through all of the noise on social media or I can just help you make them great enough to frame on your wall.
