I have been playing piano since age 3 and teaching for 10 years. I believe it is very important to understand the theory that goes along with what you are playing, so I include some theory in all of my lessons. I love teaching piano and I hope to share the joy of music with others.

About Glynis
Glynis has been reading music since before she knew how to read words. Her mother started teaching her piano lessons at age 3, and she started taking voice lessons at age 7. She learned from an early age to practice every day. She has taught all levels and ages of piano and voice for many years. Glynis specializes in jazz voice, but has a very strong classical and musical theatre background. She is an arranger, composer, educator, and singer. She received her AA in Professional Music from SWCC, school for music vocations, then got her BA in Jazz Studies, Vocal Performance at CSU Sacramento. Sh
e is currently working on her Masters in Jazz Studies, Vocal Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory inside of CSU Long Beach. While studying she is the Graduate Assistant for Christine Guter, and directs the 2nd vocal jazz ensemble, Jazz and Tonic, at the school.

*** Lesson Details ***
My teaching philosophy is to have a safe, positive, fun, and effective learning environment for all of my students. I believe it is important to be a well rounded musician, therefore I love my students to have a solid understanding of what they are doing. I strongly encourage all of my students to learn theory along with piano or voice, so they understand what they are doing. Each student is unique, therefore each student has a different lesson plan. I do expect that my students will practice during the week in order to grow, since this helps them reach their goals. I do let students pick some of their own repertoire, since it is very important for them to be motivated during the week. I can teach from early Baroque music to modern day and everything in between. Music is expression, therefore I believe it is very important for my students to love what they are working on.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Lessons in my apartment with a keyboard.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I can bring a keyboard, but it would be easier if they had one.

*** Specialties ***
I specialize in jazz voice, with a strong background in classical and musical theatre. I also specialize in piano, music theory, songwriting and arranging.

I attempted to learn piano years ago as a child and recently decided to take lessons again now that I am an adult. Glynnis is a fantastic teacher. She is well versed and skilled in not only playing the piano, but teaching it as well-something not all piano players are able to master. She is patient, dedicated, and enthusiastic about her students’ progress. I have only been taking lessons a few short months and already I have seen my skills improve. I thoroughly enjoy our lessons each week and look forward to my continued growth in this skill.
I would highly recommend her to anyone that would like to learn to play the piano. You will not be disappointed.

I am 23 years old and have been taking piano lessons with Glynis for close to a year. I can honestly say that my progress over this year has been amazing! As an adult beginner who never played the piano before, I was a little worried that it was too late for me to start learning but I was definitely wrong! Glynis has made it possible for me! She lets you go at your own pace so as not to make you feel overwhelmed or to become too frustrated and give up. Glynis never makes you feel hopeless if you do not get something right away which is something I'm sure any beginning pianist would be grateful for. She is always kind and helpful whenever I do not get something right away and is able to demonstrate it by playing it herself to allow me to know what it should sound like. She always incorporates some sort of theory into our lessons as well which allows me to better understand what I am actually doing on the piano which has helped my growth extensively. She lets you pick pieces that YOU want to learn and will help you through every step of the way to learn it. Glynis has showed me that I can tackle more challenging pieces by learning them line by line and starting slow which keeps me eager and determined to keep practicing! Glynis is the BEST! I look forward to taking lessons with her for years to come!

Her formal music education in piano as a major started at the age of 16 when she entered Seoul Arts High School in Korea, followed by study at Seoul National University. Admission to master program at USC led her to redirect her career from marketing to music.

*** Lesson Deta
ils ***
As a classically trained pianist myself, I help my students with classical approach for their piano lessons as well.
However, when I start working with new students, I start from where they are by trying to continue their previously followed methods and repertoire, regardless of musical genre.
Lesson time will be shared for theory upon students request especially when students are pursuing CM certificate, but, even for non-CM students, I normally plan to advance one level up per year in terms of proficiency.
In short term, I focus on helping students to master the repertoire they are working on, but
I will suggest pieces that can be a little challenging after they master current ones.
Bilingual in Korean and English, I'll be comfortably communicating with Korean-speaking parents.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I expect students having a digital piano, upright or grand piano for daily practice.
Eligible parking space must be provided to teacher.

*** Specialties ***
Classical music, use modern method such as Alfred or Piano Adventure for beginner to intermediate classical training.
Provide repertoires from intermediate to advance level.
Strong ability to help students for music theory up to advanced level.
CM and SYMF certified.

I've been teaching piano for over 2 years and my students have gone on to play very successful recitals. Within the first few lessons, you'll learn the fundamentals of music and piano technique and as time goes on you'll be able to play and read whole songs. I specialize in classical piano, typically using Bastien method books. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Sheila
I have earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Redlands. As a professional singer, I have performed in numerous concerts and operas. I've sung in both choral and solo settings, as well as fully staged productions. Throughout my education, I have played piano and even participated in Certificate of Merit testing. These experiences have all helped shape me into a well rounded singer.

In lessons, I devote equal amounts of time to technique and repertoire. We will always begin by warming up, and working on some exercises. Then we will implement your new tec
hniques into your repertoire, which I will tailor to your specific needs and wants.

Above all, though, I want to help you realize your dreams as a musician! Looking forward to getting started!

*** Lesson Details ***
Voice: I believe technique comes first and foremost, because it will free you to give everything you've got in performance! We will work on breath support, tone quality and proper placement, and then sing through your repertoire to put these techniques into practice.

Piano: Learning music theory goes hand in hand with playing piano. As you play your pieces, we will also explore the fundamental concepts of music theory (basic rhythm, treble and bass clef, major and minor), giving you a well rounded approach to mastering the piano. These skills will take you a long way in your musical path!

*** Studio Equipment ***
Yamaha Upright piano

*** Travel Equipment ***
Stickers for little ones! I also bring repertoire books to share with my students.

*** Specialties ***
Classical singing technique, applicable to all styles of singing

I've been teaching piano for more than twenty years and many of my students have gone on to numerous competitions and won many awards. Within the first few lessons, you'll be able to play simple songs and recognize a few of the notes and as time goes on you'll be able to read and communicate with harder pieces. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Regina
At the age of fifteen, Ms. Regina graduated with honors from the Z. Paliashvili Special Music Gymnasium for Gifted Children in Tbilisi, Georgia. As a student of a famous Georgian pianist, Tengiz Amirejibi, she presented her country in numerous competitions. (Tengiz Amirejibi was a student of Heinrich Neuhaus, a famous Russian teacher and pianist.)

As a child, Ms. Regina gave many solo recitals and concerts with the Georgian Symphonic Orchestra. Ms. Regina earned her Doctorate of Musical Arts with emphasis on Advanced Piano Performance from the Yerevan State Conservatory. After graduating,
she worked with talented children in her alma mater for many years. Later in her professional career, Ms. Regina taught at the Tbilisi State Conservatory as well as the Moscow Music Gymnasium.

With more than eighteen years of professional teaching experience, Ms. Regina is able to offer her students a diverse range of educational resources. She specializes in teaching piano, performance, and music theory to students of all ages and levels.

Ms. Regina's teaching techniques are based on a combination of the famous Russian Music School (based on music giants such as Konstantin Igumnov, Daniel Barenboim, and Heinrich Neuhaus) and the American Music Education System. This combination allows each student to work at a pace comfortable for him/her, and helps all students make significant progress in the areas of sight reading, ear training, and performance skills.

Ms. Regina teaches in her Glendale studio and the surrounding areas every day of the week except for Saturdays. She teaches in her Orange County studio located in Fountain Valley on Saturdays.

Locally, Grace has performed with the Dana Point Symphony, Symphony Irvine, as well as other groups around Southern California. Previously, she was a long time member of the Cheshire Symphony.

Whether you choose to take lessons online, in my studio in Long Beach, or in your h
ome, I strive to make each lesson engaging, informative, and fun! Students are expected to practice in-between lessons and come to lessons prepared with their instrument and music. I also encourage students to bring any music that they're interested in learning to their lessons.

**In-home Lessons**
Currently, I'm traveling to the Southbay area on Tuesdays and Thursdays only. If you reside within that area and the time you'd like isn't in my availability, please let me know, as I may be able to make it work (depending on location). If you have any scheduling questions, please contact me before booking lessons.

**Group Lessons**
I don't offer traditional group lessons, as I've found they slow down the progress of both students and therefore aren't cost effective. Arrangements can be made for back to back lessons instead. Please contact me before booking lessons.

Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have, and I can't wait to meet you!
