My 8 year old daughter just had her first singing lesson with Julia. I was concerned because though my daughter has great enthusiasm for singing, she has much to learn regarding pitch and musicality. Julia was remarkable with her! She was so positive, patient, and effective at helping my daughter learn to hear pitch. We're definitely sticking with Julia!

When I first begin teaching a student, I tell them that everyone has the ability to sing well no matter his or her experience. I also tell them that there are four things that a good singer must have: breathe control (air is your fuel, and must be used efficiently and effectively to give you the best sound), posture (in order to have access to your air and prevent vocal damage you must practice good posture habits), diction (how you pronounce words when singing can impede or improve vocal tone, as well as help or hinder the audience in understanding the lyrics) and finally and most importantly, passion. Passion is how emotionally connected you are to music and is what really allows the singer to connect with his or her audience.

I am a firm believer that there isn't a single singing method out
there that really works for everyone. But rather it is about observation
of yourself without judgement and TRULY understanding how vocal
production works in your body in relation to your breath, your mind, and your soul. I am not here to dictate how you should sing in a certain way. I am here to help you and guide you in understanding your body in relation to sound production and to cultivate your own method of vocal technique in your own words and in your own logic that actually works for you.

This was my first experience with voice lessons, and Cris the best teacher I could have hoped for! He has introduced me to all sorts of music techniques that I’m sure I will need when I leave to study music in college, and he helped me to prepare any vocal requirements I might have to fill. He is always patient, knowledgeable, and easy to get along with; and he has inspired me to continue studying opera in the future. I would highly recommend him for any level of vocalist! :)

"Jamie is AMAZING!!! We love him. He has been working with my daughter over the past year preparing her for auditions with DSA. The transformation in her singing voice is nothing shy of remarkable. She has always had a very pretty voice but now it is coupled with good voice control, projection, and everything that makes it go from aw, that's so nice, to WOW. Not only has his lessons helped with her singing, but he is very knowledgeable on all aspects of music, and has taught her sight reading, solfege, counting and rhythm, and all other aspects of music theory. Since we are auditioning with DSA, he also took it on himself to look up all the audition requirements and has been working with my daughter towards her audition. In addition to all technical stuff, he's very professional and great with my daughter. Has always been present on time, good with communication, and very patient with us. I've talked a lot about my experience with my child, but I do also think he is good with people of all ages. I've heard adults that have come before or after us in lessons and they sound great...there was a woman that was singing in another language and he was working with her on it! He truly is a great find. If you want to improve your voice and learn how to be a true vocal artist, he's your guy."
