I start from scratch with every student, and create a plan based on their goals, experience, and preferred music styles. No two students have the same lesson.
Additionally, because the jazz school I attended gave students very strong instruction in harmony and ear-training, I teach students not just how to read notes, but to understand what they're playing so they can be more creative and versatile. Moreover, I encourage students to feel comfortable making mistakes in a safe environment so they can step outside of their comfort zone.
About Marshal
I've been involved with music for nearly my whole life. I started out with Suzuki violin lessons and then switched to piano when I was in the 2nd grade and have been performing, studying, composing, and teaching ever since. I graduated from Yale with a Bachelor's in History and afterwards earn

As a music teacher of over 10 years I take a fun but structured approach to learning the piano. I've taught all ages and I individually work with each student to help them learn the music that they want to and reach the goals that they set for themselves. I work with each student to help mold their learning experience specifically to them. We will typically start with exercises and music theory and then move to music, but am willing to adapt to what each student is wanting and needing. I will send written individual feedback after the lesson to help remind the student of what we are working on. I hope to have the chance to share my love of music with you!

This is a high-quality studio. I strive to help students achieve goals small and large. I believe establishing proper technique and efficient practicing habits early and quickly opens doors.
My goals are:
-Provide a comfortable, encouraging atmosphere that inspires growth in and outside of music.
-Inspire a life-long love of music.
-Provide optional performance and competition opportunities in the community.
-Develop a work ethic that crosses over to other areas in life.
-Most importantly, we have fun at this studio.
About Grace
