I have great luck with the black key approach for young beginners. Spoiler alert, the black keys are the pentatonic scale and sound great in any number of different combinations. I emphasize ear training, learning to read music, and also having fun.

Brian is great for kids and adults!

My 10-year-old showed interest in learning piano, and Brian is great! My 8-year-old thought it looked fun, so we added him, and Brian does a great job with him. In fact, my 40-something husband was so impressed, he signed up, too! Brian is terrific with all of them. Everyone is learning at his own speed and each is improving. Brian adeptly teaches according to skill, interest, aptitude, and attitude. I'm so impressed! I heartily recommend for anyone looking for a music teacher.

We are a husband and wife piano teaching team that enjoy seeing children grow as they expand their musical skill set. We are firm believers of learning the fundamentals. We teach all ages and levels, and want our students to be having fun!

And if your piano needs a tuning, we do that too!

It is great getting a student to think and analyze the task at hand. It might seem too hard at first, but I will walk the student through the process of figuring out how to play a piece. Learning music gives you a lot of skills applicable to everyday life.

We focus on ear training, theory, proper practice techniques. We will learn excersizes to help us play with both hands better.

I also am a Jazz musician, so we can talk about imrovisation and comping as well

Ronnie also focuses considerably on musical theory which is often something sorely lacking in musical instruction. Additionally, he's really just a wonderful guy with a great attitude and spirit!"

"Molly built in some flexibility in our lesson, which was nice. As an adult, she asked my goals and suggested that we build in some music I played as a child—that we could find easier formats of the songs or find easier pieces within that childhood piano book. I like that Molly has availability on weekends too because it is hard for me to be across town after work."

Franz Liszt's Piano Studio Desk & Other Ways Composers Capture Their Ideas

Franz Liszt (1811 – 1886) was a virtuoso pianist and composer, and generally recognized to be the one of the greatest of all time. To help him with his composing, Liszt had a custom desk built which had a small piano keyboard built into the middle drawer. It was built by a manufacturer called Bösendorf, and it is currently on display at the Franz Liszt Museum in Budapest. These days, many aspiring musicians have similar set ups in their compositional studios. We still use the same musi …
