Jason K.

Medway, MA

About Jason

Hello, my name is Jason! I have been surrounded by music for my entire life. My father, a Berklee School of Music graduate, is an accomplished guitarist who introduced me to many forms of music as a child. At age seven he introduced me to Ringo Starr’s drum solo in “The End” by The Beatles and I knew that I wanted to learn to play percussion. Since that time, I have studied percussion theory and technique extensively with Shawn Green and Kevin Fortunato, both Berklee graduates. I studied film scoring, music theory, music history, and electronic composition at the Cambridge School of Weston under Gustavo-Assis Brasil (another Berklee graduate) and Michael Weinstein (the school’s music director and Berklee professor with an extensive list of degrees and credits). I also performed in ...

Aaron M.

Franklin, MA

About Aaron

Berklee College of Music graduate, Aaron M., has been teaching students of all ages for over 12 years. "I love watching young musicians grow into seasoned players and have had tremendous success with all my students. I believe that learning songs and playing music is a critical element in the learning process of becoming a good drummer/pianist, and musician. This is why I bring a powered PA speaker, mp3 player, and (sometimes) a guitar to my lessons for the student to play along with and learn familiar songs. Over the years I've learned to strike a balance between Reading/Rudiments and Playing/having fun, so as to maintain students interests and growth." *** Lesson Details *** Music lessons in the comfort of your home! My boys, ages 7 & 5, started piano lessons with Aaron a year ago. He has taught them technique & theory all while using songs they boys love. There are days that the boys are not the most cooperative. Aaron is amazingly patient and persistent in getting the boys to do their lessons. I really appreciate and have learned from this patience when it comes to the nightly practicing. I am pleased that the boys have been working with a male teacher and I think it really helps them relate to the music and the lessons. If you are looking for a patient yet knowledgeable piano teacher, I would definitely recommend Aaron.

Derrick C.

Dedham, MA

About Derrick

I've been playing the guitar for twenty-six years now, and I've been working as a guitar teacher for the last twenty years. I've been making a living as a guitar teacher in the Boston area for fourteen years now, and I teach in two locations - Brighton and Dedham. Prior to that I also taught at Guitar Attention Center in Springfield, Ohio while I was in college, where I graduated with honors at Wright State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communications. I've also played in a variety of original and cover bands, and have written a number of songs of my own. I'm working on recording these as instrumentals in my home studio. I also play in a rock cover band called Element 78. We play out every weekend, and even on some Sundays. The singer and I have also started doing some

About Mia

I am a professional singer and actress with opera and musical theater credits. Singing is my passion! I love to sing, and I LOVE to teach others to sing! The human voice is the most natural instrument of all, and helping others to bring out the beauty of the natural instrument that lies within them is something to which I am very devoted. I like to make students feel comfortable and at ease in lessons, and you will find that I am very warm and friendly! Every student is unique, with their own strengths, their own areas for improvement, and their own preference for certain styles of singing. I can help you find what style makes your heart sing! I have a broad range of credits, including the Broadway National Tour of Fiddler On The Roof with Theodore Bikel (Tzeitel understudy), ...

My daughter's acting class with Mia was absolutely wonderful! She was very nervous going in because it was her first time trying out acting but she was immediately set at ease by Mia's warm and friendly personality. Mia also took the time to get to know my daughter and find out what her interests and goals were. Mia's enthusiasm for acting really inspired her and she is very excited about her upcoming classes.

I took drum lessons from Jon U. for a little over a year, and loved it. The only reason our lessons stopped is because he moved.

On our first day, Jon's first question to me was, "What do you hope to learn from me and these lessons?" I couldn't read music and I had no rhythm, and that's all I hoped to learn. I was in my forties, and wanted this to be a hobby; it was never going to be anymore than that, but Jon didn't treat this as boring or a waste of his time.

Jon was patient, professional, fun. And he was a *teacher.* Each time I mastered an assignment, he'd write me a more difficult one, and I learned more about music and became a better player than I ever thought I would.

Jon isn't just qualified to teach the mechanics. He has a Ph.D., and my favorite part of our lessons was simply discussing what's "behind" the playing: the theory behind it; what it means; viewing and contemplating what music is and what it means to us. How it changes us.

Good musicians don't always make the best instructors, but Jon U. is one of the rare ones. I can't recommend him highly enough.

I took lessons with Jonathan for about 2 years. I had never played the drums before and he did a great job of teaching me. His teaching style is great. He manages to make the dry stuff fun and keep your attention, and he is very willing to change up his plans to help you get to your goals.

The atmosphere during lessons is great as well. Taking lessons with Jon is very comfortable and relaxing, so it becomes very easy to open up and really get into the drumming.

Couldn't recommend lessons with him any more.

Can Anyone Learn to Sing? Five Steps to Instantly Improve
