Young multilingual (English, Cantonese, and Mandarin) piano and violin teacher who combines the formal traditional Eastern style of teaching, and the fun approach of Western style of teaching into his music lessons.

Fun lessons but also challenging
- I believes that fun lessons are easy to gain young student interest, but it often lack to give them motivation. In the lessons, I often challenge my students, let them be self-motivated and become a better musician.

Techniques
- I focus lessons on teaching proper techniques with their instruments. With my experiences in taking lessons from American, Chinese, and Russian teachers, I learnt a great spectrum of techniques and like to teach what I had learn.

Learning pieces and other related topics
- Playing pieces and songs is only a small piece of playing an instrument. In lessons, I also teaches proper music theory, and ear-training.

I haves students from age 4 to retirement age. Early beginner to preparing for college ...

Especially during major world events, the need for art and mediums where humans can express their emotion are of vital importance. I recently graduated from The Juilliard School with a BMA in Piano Performance, having studied with legendary pedagogue and Chair of Piano Dr. Veda Kaplinsky, and fabled concert pianist Hung-Kuan Chen, whose students also include the likes of Yuja Wang and Sean Chen. I've traveled the musical world and studied with several of the world's most celebrated concert pianists, including András Schiff, Richard Goode, Ari Vardi, and Sergei Babayan, mentor of international piano star Daniil Trifonov, as one of eight students worldwide accepted to his final Babayan International Piano Academy. I've performed with the Seattle Symphony amongst various other orchestras in Europe and China, and perform regularly as a soloist in the greater NYC area and Seattle at venues including Carnegie Hall. Since beginning my teaching career, I've looked forward to sharing my knowledge of music as an international language with students across all ages, in order to nurture their artistic talents and unique ...

As a parent, I worried that my child wouldn’t receive a truly effective musical education that was tailored to suit his needs and goals. After studying with Max for two years, my twelve year old son has just started his first semester at the Mannes’ School of Music Pre-College Program this Fall. I cannot thank Max enough for his efforts. Before starting lessons with Max, my son had zero interest in piano despite his potential. Max made piano fun, interesting, and worthy of my son’s time. He became an entirely different person! He has studied with the world’s foremost concert pianists and teachers, and he always used his illustrious network to help my son with career opportunities. Though my son now studies in a formal setting, I’m grateful to Max for his help in securing my son’s future. If you are a parent who is unsure of who to entrust your child’s musical development to, please sign up for Max’s lessons. He is the real deal!
Alex
Max has been very helpful so far in teaching me the fundamentals of what makes a proficient piano player, from the technical aspects to the mentality one should have. Would Recommend.
Leopold
Max is a young man with a mature spirit far beyond his years. My wife and I heard him in concert where he gave a beautiful recital of Liszt and Beethoven Sonatas in our hometown of Berlin. I recently visited New York for a business trip, and took the opportunity to speak to this young man who captured my ears with his nearly philosophical performance. After a brief two hour lesson, it was clear to me that the artist had clear vision of a realm that most would disregard as imaginary. I look forward to hearing him again in Europe, and encourage those in New York to take advantage of his services. He will be a major influence on the future of classical music.

"Wonderful Teacher

(Age and gender refer to my sons at the time of the lessons.) Laima taught piano to both of my sons from 2007 to 2012. She was an excellent teacher, helping them to discover a love of playing. From her, they also gained a solid base in music theory. Under her tutelage, both advanced easily (or so it seemed to me the parent) in the annual merit certificate exams. With seven years difference in age, each son had very different needs. Laima had the 'just right' approach for both of them. Gentle, supportive, but also clear with her expectations, she worked with them through ups and downs in their own commitment and effort. She also created wonderful opportunities for them to perform. Both continue to play to this day, with my youngest considering music as a possible career. We were sorry that she moved out of our area in 2012. I recommend her highly!"
