Teaching Violin in Hendersonville

Christina M.

By Christina M.-Hendersonville Violin Teacher

Having the opportunity to teach violin lessons in Hendersonville, TN has been rewarding in so many ways. As a TakeLessons instructor, I am able to teach and learn from my students, which is interesting and fun! I teach beginner to intermediate piano and violin in Hendersonville, TN. One of my violin students, Adam Hatcher, is a unique violin player because he plays left handed violin! Adam borrowed a left-handed violin from a friend and in order to play a left-handed violin, he has to hold the violin on his right shoulder instead of his left shoulder, and use his right hand on the finger board and his left to pull the bow along the strings. It took me a few minutes or so to play a little on the left-handed violin. However, I am still unable to hold it correctly on the right side of my body. However, Adam is doing a great job of holding the violin and pulling the bow along the strings.

Adam is progressing quickly on the violin. He also plays guitar, so reading music and rhythm come easily to him. Within two weeks Adam was able to play “Mary had a little lamb” with accurate intonation, rhythm, and bowing. Watching Adam play has helped improve my playing, and the advice I give Adam is often useful for me as well. Also, I find playing along with Adam, while he is performing his exercises really helps his learning. I look forward to seeing Adam mature as a violin player.
