Have you ever hoped to learn piano but didn't know where to start? Whether you (or your child) want to learn classical, jazz, pop, gospel or rock, I have experience performing and teaching many different styles of keyboard and piano. I've taught piano for about 8 years to ages ranging from 4 to over 60! It's never too late to start. I have a master's degree from UT in jazz piano and a bachelor's in classical piano from James Madison University. I've played in a wide variety of bands and ensembles, ranging from pop cover bands to reggae groups, jazz trios and classical ensembles. In addition, I have more than eight years of experience teaching piano to students of all ages, young to old. Whatever style you're hoping to pick, I can help you learn and understand the music you play so that you can really connect with the music. I focus my lessons towards what the student wants to accomplish. If you want to learn a song, I will find the music for you or transcribe it from the recording and write an arrangement for you. I also try to give my students an understanding of music so that they can connect more deeply with what they play and make their learning of future music easier.
