Val has been teaching Piano and Kindermusik for over 12 years. She began teaching private piano lessons while living in Hazelwood, MO and after moving to North Liberty, IA in 2008, she opened MusicEveryday and quickly grew from 2 to 23 students per week. In 2011, she joined Marek Szmyrgala as a piano teacher at Music4Life in North Liberty and added another 13 students to her weekly teaching schedule. All of her students had a variety of interests in music from classical, to jazz, to pop and even wrote their own music. Val prepared her students for 2 recitals every year and several students participated in the Music Development Program, all earning First Class Honors. The foundation of my teaching philosophy is the awareness of how different every person is in the way that they learn. My first goal when I meet a new student is getting to know them before choosing materials. It is the student’s learning style that should determine the method and materials that I assign.

I appreciate how Val takes the time to explain everything to me. I also, liked the practices she assigned that involved exercising my fingers and playing the keys.
My kids agree that Miss Val was our favorite piano teacher. Four of them took piano lessons from her for a few years recently. Miss Val uses fun and creative strategies to engage the littlest students. She manages to stay calm and kind but firm when needed. Miss Val caters to each student's style and interests. She often brings in extra music and fun, supplemental learning material. Miss Val helps students establish good habits and provides motivation to practice regularly. I am positive she will be your favorite teacher, too!
