About Topher M.
Originally from North Carolina, I moved to NYC in 2011 to pursue a career in the arts. I was trained by Broadway actor Hal Davis and several local (but brilliant) directors and performers from the North Carolina area. I have worked in every department of the theatre and several departments in the film and tv world. I’ve been a Broadway stagehand and a professional actor, I’ve directed short films and even taught my university’s improv program while still an undergrad student. For 20 years my life has been centered around the performing arts. 3 years of collegiate musical theatre training, multiple years of film and video training, improv training that has led to over 200 paid performances, and a number of niche performing arts training (including professional wrestling training) led to me to a point where I felt comfortable enough in my knowledge of what I had learned to begin to sharing and educating other, less experienced people. I spent the last 3 years giving private lessons that has seen significant growth from those I’ve tutored. I love the intellectual complexities of our business as much as I love the sheer fun of pretending and living a few moments as if I’m someone else. I specialize in character acting, the type where you walk, talk, and react different then your core self. I also find it very important to stay in touch with your own personal humanity in the process of pretending to be others. You’re a wonderful person and it would be a shame to lose you and the things that make you special to fiction.
Together we can master this complicated craft and make you a director’s best friend!
I’m currently back in North Carolina waiting for Broadway to be back in business, so if you’re local to the southeastern area of North Carolina don’t miss out on your chance to learn from someone that’s spent nearly a decade working on Broadway level productions and beyond!
