Hello to future students! I've been playing cello for 15+ years and have experience in almost everything performers are doing with the cello. Classical performance, recording, gigging, improvisation, looping and effects, related computer software, and arranging cello performances of pop songs. I also teach students that simply enjoy the cello as a hobby and play for themselves as a form of meditation, self care or just for fun! I teach with a set curriculum in mind that bends to where my individual students' passions lie; no matter what your goal is with the cello, I can guide my students in achieving it. The biggest factor that keeps me dedicated to the cello is how much fun I have playing it, and I do my best to connect with this passion in my students. I respect the tradition of the instrument but am not afraid to deviate from it either. Hard work and discipline (not to mention having fun) can create many opportunities for a cellist. As a teacher, I aim to create the same passion for music in students that I have enjoyed throughout my career. I employ a similar teaching style to the best professors I have studied under. A great reason to learn an instrument is so you can eventually transcend it. Music is for everyone. Here is a short biography in case you want to know more: Ted Leininger began playing cello after listening to a video game soundtrack (Zelda!) that had a great cello part in it. After that, he never stopped. Starting as the last chair cellist in high school, he was in the advanced orchestra group by his senior year of high school. At Metro State University he studied under Charles Lee, the Principal cellist of the Boulder philharmonic. He thoroughly studied classical technique before transferring to UCDenver as a double major in Cello performance and Audio Engineering. He studies various types of music, pursuing genres like Jazz and Bluegrass in addition to Classical. He performs with independent singer-songwriters and has experience gigging as a studio musician and band member.
