Hi, I'm Sonja! Thank you for considering me to be your teacher! Here are some characteristics that set me apart: Teaching Philosophy - My teaching philosophy centers around a fun, positive, and forgiving approach to learning. I cater individually to each student’s needs, and craft specific and attainable lesson goals. I provide my students with the encouragement and step-by-step instruction they need to support a feeling of accomplishment. As a teacher, my ultimate goal is to instill a love and appreciation for music in my students, that will be passed on to future generations. Adaptable - I keep a fresh approach to an outdated teaching method. I recognize that not all teaching approaches work the same on every student and I am able to shift accordingly. Communicative - I'm available anytime if you have any questions during your practice during the week. I accept text messages and emails. I want to be able to support you at all times! Extensive Training - I hold both my BM and MM degrees from the University of North Texas and have worked with several respected teachers over the years. Well Travelled - I have performed in India, Thailand, the UAE, and Southeast Asia in addition to performing all over the U.S. - Chicago, Los Angeles, Richmond, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, San Antonio, El Paso, etc. Short biography: Sonja Westberg is a freelance musician, maintaining an active performing and teaching schedule in St. Louis, Missouri. Sonja has been a private lesson instructor since 2011, teaching both harp and piano lessons to students of all ages. She is highly sought-after as an educator, having been invited to teach masterclasses and workshops at public schools and Universities all over Texas. First class, my daughter was very comfortable, following instructions along with her teacher, both playing their harps. My daughter had an exceptional beginners class overall.
