I have a Master's Degree in Flute Performance Pedagogy from Arizona State University. The word Pedagogy in my degree means that I went beyond the Performance Degree to study Music Teaching Methods on the Flute in addition to the rigors of a Flute Performance Degree. Some teachers have an extensive performance resume, but when it comes to interpersonal communication, some have trouble putting into words the mechanics of achieving good tone, vibrato, posture, and technical aspects of fluteplaying. I have four decades of teaching and judging experience with all ages. One approach does not work for everyone. I specialize in preparation of solos for contests and festivals; however, if you need encouragement in your fundamentals, or need to work on advanced techniques, I have programs that will fit nearly every goal. Some of additional skills include: Experience in the Miss America Pageant system, preparing, editing, and producing a polished short programs; special techniques for piccolo or bass flute playing; and extensive flute choir experience, as a director, performer, and judge.
