I have been teaching dance for over 10 years. In that time I have found that, regardless of what style you are learning, everything is made of a few fundamental principals and components specific to that style. There are only so many ways you can move your feet and body. By understanding these principals & components, you can then put them together in any order with different style to create different dances. By laying the proper foundation, students have an easier time following choreography, learning to apply their own style, and even keeping up with a class. Once a dancer has a foundation to work up on, I introduce new concepts in layers to help dances feel better and develop a nicer aesthetic.
About Sasha C.

Hey, Sasha speaking! I would be thrilled to share my passion for dance with you. I am trained in various styles including ballroom, ballet, bellydance, hip hop and aerial arts (aerial silk, hoop and pole). I have been teaching different subjects for 10 years with a focus in instructing ballroom for the last 6 years. I believe dance is a healing and liberating art and would love to help you find your flow. Not only is dance fun, but it will come in handy at parties and events, and is a great way to socialize. I am experienced with both kids ages 4 and up as well as adults, so please feel free to contact me, and we can begin an awesome journey. ***If you submit a question, please include the following so that I am better able to assist you: -Do you have previous dance experience? -What styles/sub styles of dance are you interested in? -What style(s) of music do you enjoy most? -What city & time zone are you located in? -What days and time during the week are you available for lessons? -Do you have any event or occasion you are preparing for? -What inspired you to look into dance lessons at this time? -Do you have any specific goals or skills you are working toward? FAQ: Q: Where do you teach? A: I offer in studio, in home and online lessons based on your location and availability. I teach in person private lessons in multiple locations, serving the NY/NJ/PA & now TN regions. Please view my profile to see if you are within my studio or travel radius for one of these locations. Q: Do you offer group classes? A: I offer a wide range of subjects, with available times across multiple time zones. Unfortunately, there are usually not enough students wanting the same subject at the same time slot to be able to provide regular group classes. I can however accommodate multiple people on a lesson, if you have a group of people on your end who would like to participate in person or virtually. Q: What are your rates? A: All my rates are available on my page and vary based on subject and location. Group lessons start at my hourly rate and are then based on the number of students in the group. 30 min- $45 45 min- $70 60 min- $90 My group rate starts at 90$ per hour for the first 9 people, and goes up by 10$ for every additional person. Q: What subjects do you teach? A: I teach a variety of subjects including Latin and Ballroom, Contemporary/ Jazz/ Ballet, Hip Hop/ Break Dancing, Belly dance, Choreography, Flow Arts, Aerial Arts and Acrobatics. If you have a special request such as dances from videos, traditional dances, etc please let me know, and I may be able to accommodate it. Q: How do Online Lessons work: A: Your experience with online lessons can vary based on your learning style and equipment you have available to improve the experience, but generally styles that are heavy in visual following like hip hop perform very well online. Online lessons are performed via Zoom, which allows me to stream music directly from your computer, so you have crystal clear sound, and has the most stable connection. If you are not able to install zoom for any reason, the take lessons platform can be used as back up. All you need to get started is a computer with internet connection, microphone and a web camera. Additional tools that improve the experience are speakers or bluetooth headphones, and a large screen like a tv. I will be available before the lesson to help with set up and trouble shooting if needed. Lessons are best done in an area where you have the space to move around; Usually living rooms are sufficient for this. After calling in a few min early to check sound and video, I will explain the lesson plan for the day, followed by a breakdown of the skill set we will be working on. We would then start with a warm up and the material for the day, based on the goals we set for your program. With online lessons I can demonstrate the material, visually assess your progress, and provide feedback just as I would on an in person lesson. Q: How does scheduling work: A: My weekly availability varies. Scheduling will occur week by week, unless we agree on a standing time. Normally I provide my students with the times I am free based on their location and my travel time, and they choose the time they would prefer. Please let me know if there any days and times that will never work for you to be on a lesson due to current commitments such as work or other hobbies? Q: What is your teaching style? A: I have been teaching dance for over 10 years. Q: How do I book lessons? A: To book lessons please visit my page, select the location and subject you would like lessons in, and book. You will be walked through a series of prompts to request times and complete the purchase. If you have a special request or have trouble booking online, please call take lessons directly and they will help get you set up.
