Learn to play guitar like your heroes. Develop your own musical personality. Have lots of fun.

Having played the coffeehouse circuit since my early twenties, I can show you many things that will 1) improve your playing, 2) increase your confidence in front of an audience, and 3) bring a sense of enjoyment and wonder to the music that's already in you. My lessons are strictly for hands-on learners. I play a line and then you repeat it - simple as that. Pretty soon, you'll have mastered the major scale, the "cowboy chords" (C, F, G, A, E, and D), and then some more advanced material (minor & seventh chords, the "blues" scale). Further down the line, you'll be introduced to some basic jazz chords, soloing techniques, and even songwriting skills.

    About Samuel B.

I've been a performing singer-songwriter since 1993. My influences include Neil Young, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, and Richie Havens. During this time, I've also been an enthusiastic cook and photographer. I obtained my teaching certificate in 2006 and gradually discovered that providing private instruction is my supreme element. I also discovered that I'm a hands-on learner - more so than I am a visual or auditory one. Hands-on learners make up a rather small percent of the population - one whose needs are easy to overlook. I make it my job to support students who need to do something in order to understand it and I do this by way of having you imitate what I do. Though imitation and repetition are my most obvious pieces, I make my lessons fun and exciting as well. Everyone can be (and already is) an actor, a musician, a skilled cook, and a proficient photographer. My job is simply to help you discover these things (which are in you already) and provide them a little guidance so that you can allow them to flourish.

I found Samuel to be very good at making me feel comfortable at acting, even though I'm a fairly introverted person. Also he adapts to the subject and managed to have me memorize 3 pages of script, which is not something I thought I anyone could get me to do.
