Lessons with me will focus first and foremost on discovering and honoring yourself as a person and an artist, and then on developing your relationship with the text. We can work on a specific piece or pieces (for an audition or a performance), or on plays, scenes or monologues that we choose together, to help develop you as a performer. No matter what, text we choose, we will focus on you speaking own personal truth through your performance.
I have recently been accepted into an elite graduate actor training program, and so I have had experience and success at preparing school auditions. I can help you put together an audition that shows schools not only your current skills and talents, but the potential for who you can be as an artist. I also have several years of professional acting experience, so I can help you prepare for the professional world as well.
My goal is to help all of my students give more honest, spontaneous, visceral, and satisfying performances. I look forward to working with you and helping you on your journey to become the best actor you can possibly be.
About Ryan C.
My name is Ryan. I'm a professional actor from the Philadelphia area, and I am excited to share what I know with you and help you be the best actor you can be.
I've worked as a professional actor for about four years. I've worked in film and theatre, Shakespeare plays and world premiers, musicals and devised pieces, horror pictures and feel-good films, and, thanks to the pandemic, even virtual shows. I've worked alongside both experienced Broadway actors and talented up-and-comers, and I so I've had the opportunity to study how great actors work, and I hope to relay some of that to you.
I have a Bachelor's degree in both Theatre and Philosophy from Hamilton College, and I will begin to work towards my MFA in acting at DePaul University this fall. I've taken intensives in Shakespeare, audition prep, and devised performance at places like, SITI Company (NYC), Lantern Theatre (Philadelphia), The Phoenix Theatre (PA), and Pig Iron Theatre Company (Philadelphia). I've seen how some of the country's best acting teachers relate to their students, and I have learned how to guide actors through exercises and scene study so that they can reap the maximum benefit.
Outside of acting, I am a college swim coach (so get ready for a pep talk if you're feeling down about your acting abilities), and an avid kayaker and nordic skier. I love movies, sports on TV, Italian food, and spending time with friends and family (often via Zoom these days). I can't wait to meet you and help you take your acting to the next level.

Working with Ryan is always a delight! He has helped me improve my confidence so much, and I feel so much more prepared for my auditions now. His method of teaching and the environment he creates in his lessons makes me feel safe to take risks with my acting in ways I never have before. Thanks for everything Ryan!
