B.A. in Piano Performance
Learn piano in a fun, flexible way that suits your strengths and goals!
Music lessons with me will use a variety of approaches tailored to how you best learn! I've always had an interdisciplinary approach to my own music and have seen great results in sharing this with students. Whatever your specific goal is, I'm confident I can help you not only reach it, but evolve beyond that and towards new goals.
Students can expect lessons to be based on fun, positive reinforcement, enjoyment of the process, and a thoroughness that encourages growth.
My personal background is very extensive, including a music degree from UNC-CH, and spans a comical array of genres. Performance, theory, composition, ear training, and production are all fun options for us.
My primary job has been teaching gymnastics for the last seven years, so I work very well with kids!
I‘ve published several albums over the years and will upload some here soon as examples of my work. If you like anything you hear, I'd love to teach you to do all the same things!

About Ryan B.
Hi! I'm a lifelong musician with experience with a variety of instruments, genres, and learning styles. Piano is my main instrument; I carry a B.A. in Jazz Performance from UNC Chapel-Hill. I originally went in for classical, and I still continue my classical practice.
I've played in various settings including recitals, festivals, weekly gigs, house shows, and more. Arrangements have included solo piano, singer/songwriter, jazz duo/trio, jazz band, charanga, rock bands, and progressive metal bands.
I love teaching as a way to share the joy of music with others and help them find their own style. My background allows great flexibility with what and how students can learn. I'm confident in teaching virtually any style through whichever approach best suits the student. Playing by ear, reading sheet music, or using a real book are all options. I also offer lessons on guitar and bass.
My primary job for the last seven years has been coaching gymnastics, so I work very well with kids and have a ton of fun with it! I've also taught adult gymnastics and enjoy it.
Beyond performance, I'm passionate about composition and music production, and I'd love to teach those. Over the years I’ve published several albums which span a variety of genres. I mostly tend to fuse electronic production styles with more traditional orchestral arrangements. I’ll be uploading some examples here soon so you can have a listen!
Feel free to reach out for any more info. I hope to work with you towards whatever musical goals you may have!
