This class is for teen-adult beginning/intermediate acting. I pioneered 2 private Arts Academies in drama and film for 6 years, and am now teaching acting and directing full time with private lessons and gigs. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Soundwaves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

About Rebecca L.

I am super excited to be building a private and small group lesson platform at our home studio and to meet your personal acting and performing needs! I recently stepped down from 2 years of full-time drama and visual art at Lumos Arts Academy- a private school I played a role in pioneering- to focus on building up passionate individuals who are serious about thriving in the performing world.

I also created a Theater and Film Program at Experience Arts School where students ages 5- adult could take classes (group or private) or join an acting company for regular performance gigs. I directed multiple musicals during this time. My company competed with the AZ Thespians and took home many superior scores.

Personally, I have been acting for 25 years in the Mid and Southwest, studied theater at UWOshkosh-where I was a judge for speech and debate high school competitions for years-, film at Scottsdale CC, improv with iO in Chicago, and the Meisner Technique with the renowned Kevin Phipps. I was part of a musical repertory company based in Utah for 8 months, traveled around the Phoenix valley performing in 8 different dinner theaters for 8 years, and have produced and directed multiple professional music videos for Soundwaves Productions in Gilbert.

I believe that each actor learns differently, and the best way is to become well-rounded in your training to discover what works best for you. I have become very attuned to identifying strengths and weaknesses in actors, and will work with you on the best technique to suit your needs and style.

Classes I have created curriculum for/taught include:
Auditioning for theater and film
Script Analysis
Beginning- Advanced Improv
Beginning- Advanced Scene Acting
Uta Hagen's Repertoire
Acting for Film
Voice and Diction
Music Video Creation
Musical Theater Acting/Dance
Public Speaking

Rebecca is so great- I was worried about being able to learn improv online, but Rebecca seems to know it so well and can adjust for anyone it seems. I am grateful for all the social skill development it has given me! I never knew I could be funny! :O

Rebecca was very nice, inviting and patient with my almost 13 year old daughter. This is our first experience with anyone regarding acting and we were so happy with Rebecca.

Rebecca is amazing. I was skeptical that we could do improv work online but she not only made it happen, she made it succeed! She shows up prepared and offers great structure. Her insight and advice are thoughtful and spot on which has helped me improve faster than I would with another instructor. On top of that the lessons are extremely fun! Seriously would recommend her for anything.

Rebecca has been the most helpful coach I have ever worked with! Some of what she has guided me in was tricky to do online but she always finds a way to make activities work. It is a fun class, and I can tell my skills are growing a lot from working with her.

We've been doing a lot of work on accent training that is going well as she can pick up on things I didn't know existed; as well as helping me work through the little things you wouldn't think about in commercial and monologue work; as well as basic concepts that I needed more practice in.
All around great instruction.

Rebecca has been monumental in helping me to develop my voice acting skills. She has helped me realize how important understanding/effectively executing traditional acting is to be able to deliver quality voice reels. I’m excited to be able to start constructing my reel at their studio.

My daughter raves about her lessons with Rebecca. She gets in the car and is always so excited to tell me what she did or learned, and when she practices I can see things click and improve. It’s so refreshing to see her passion and satisfaction in the learning process. Clearly she has a gift for teaching and inspiring teenagers, because I never see Anna work this hard. Thank you for all you do!

I enjoy my class every time I go. Rebecca is a fun teacher, even though she keeps me focused. We are always thinking outside the box on how to make class better for me personally. I like that she is flexible and cares about how I learn. One of the things I appreciate most is that she points out what I do well and what I should improve in, whereas some of my teachers in the past only focus on one or the other.

Rebecca is very accommodating to my needs as I develop my journey into voice over acting. We have spent much time understanding how character dictates the type of voice I use, and I have grown in the range of voices I can do, as well as my proper pacing. Her husband Jim also has an amazing recording studio where we have gotten to experiment with cartoon voice overs to build my reel.

Rebecca is very well rounded, any question I threw at her she answered perfectly with examples to back it up. All our lessons felt very nonjudgmental which made it easy for me to push my limits and focus on acting itself. She is also really flexible on times and your focus during the lessons. Overall, Rebecca was a great teacher who really helped me get improve and get comfortable with my acting

I was in multiple productions with Ms Rebecca and each time she brought me out of my comfort zone. She has made me look at all of my skills and put each of them to the test.

I have been in several productions with Rebecca and each time she has stretched me as an actor and performer. Rebecca really pulls you into part of the production by being open to your ideas about the character and challenges you to really owen your craft on the stage and your professionalism behind and off the stage. She truly is a developer and loves to see individuals grow. I cannot recommend her enough.

I was honored to be a part of multiple theater Productions directed by Rebecca. She is definitely skilled and pushing the actor passes his or her comfort zone while giving them the tools to push past their personal limitations and is constantly encouraging and upbeat. First as a director, then teacher, then cast member she is a tireless asset and teacher.

Ms. Rebecca has been a phenomenal teacher! I am so grateful for everything she has taught me. She has a well rounded teaching style that pulls inspiration from both renowned teachers of the past (Stanislavsky, Adler, Meisner, etc.) and themes found in our current events (politics, pop culture, etc.) She has trained me in anything and everything from the basics of stage acting, improv, film, script writing, and even how to method act safely. I have been awarded multiple Superior marks while competing under her teaching and am now working in my community theatres thank to her preparation. In her classes, I not only grew as an artist, but as a person as well. I honestly couldn’t recommend her more!

Rebecca Linton brought focus and a determined professionalism to my acting. In the shows we shared she challenged me to ask the difficult questions about my characters, pushing me to the next level as an actor. Her structured classes meet you where you are, challenging you to climb higher as you reason about the stories we strive to tell as actors

Rebecca Linton is an absolutely phenomenal acting teacher. I cannot express how grateful I am for her guidance and instruction. She is the best teacher I have ever had by far. She is incredibly knowledgeable about all things acting. She knows how to push her actors to improve beyond where they thought they could go. She had led me to get multiple Superior ratings at acting competitions. She is familiar with a host of different acting methods including but not limited to those of Uta Hagen, Stanislavsky, and Sanford Meisner. I seriously cannot express how grateful I am for her. She had had a profound impact on my life and taught and cared for me in a way no other acting teacher in the world ever could!

Lumos Arts Academy

I pioneered the visual art and drama program for this full-time K-12 private school under the direction of Principal Chuck Green and Fine Arts Director Dr. Russell Seaton. Because of our passion to see students thrive at their peak potential and needing knowledgeable decision-making from the ownership to do so, all three of us have left this school to lead and teach on our own terms. However, at this school I created dynamic programs that offered original classes for credit such as Music Video Recording, filming, and production; Theatrical Dance Expression; Visual Art Set and Prop creation for our musicals; as well as improv and traditional acting for stage and film. I also directed 2 musicals with interesting twists, and mentored students 7-12th grade with important life skills based on their needs.
