About Penny S.
Come sing, play and act by the sea in beautiful Beverly! Penny’s sound background in classical study coupled with a lifelong love of musical theatre has helped to mold her into the passionate, dedicated, and energetic educator and performer that she is today. Her instruction focuses not just on the student’s technique, but developing the student as a whole - working with breath, posture, confidence, characterization and artistry. She also incorporates the use of yoga and movement as tools to free the performer in mind and body. Penny has been a private instructor for over 18 years and works with students of all ages and experience levels. Formerly the Coordinator of Theater at Endicott College, she has over 10 years of experience teaching and directing at the collegiate level. A native of the Chicagoland area, Penny is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University (BM, Vocal Performance) and the Boston Conservatory (MM Opera Performance).

I started working with Penny when I was 11 years old and she has done wonders to my voice. When I first started singing, I had no training and had a very little range. Thanks to Penny, I have grown not only as a singer, but I am a stronger performer as well. She helped me with everything: from building my repertoire, to audition prep, and through the college application process. I am now studying at Dean College and getting my BA in Musical Theatre, and I still see Penny for lessons when I am home. I owe all of my success to Penny’s training!!
