Hi! My name is Oshagan, and I can't wait to meet you! I've been teaching private lessons since 2004 and have loved helping my students learn musical concepts from scratch, achieve musical abilities they used to only dream of, and learn the habits needed to attain the highest levels of music performance. After earning my undergraduate degree in cello performance from Cal State University, Northridge (CSUN), I went on to study and complete the Master’s Degree in Cello performance at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). I'm a fun, energetic and understanding person and my teaching style is student-centered and paced, easygoing and thorough. At the same time, I hold my students to the highest standards. This doesn’t mean I expect them all to become concert musicians. It means I expect them to develop the best musical habits (discipline, concentration, and knowledge of how to learn/practice) so that you become the best musician you can be (as opposed to being some mediocre half-hearted musician).
I look forward to helping you reach your goals!

I'm very impressed by how Mr. Oshagan can get an almost 3 year old to learn a technique simply by playing a game. He truly understands that children learn best by play. He is able to successfully break down a concept, by playing a game that results in the technique he's teaching, getting my child to focus and engage. My now 3 year old loves and respects Mr. Oshagan, and is very excited when it comes time for his cello lesson. Mr. Oshagan is also a wealth of information. He teaches the parent how to teach the student, so that practice times are as stress free as possible, but effective and productive.
I was specifically looking for a teacher that specialized in teaching cello to small children, and I am so happy we found Mr. Oshagan.

I found Oshagan through Suzuki Association website. My 3 year old has been fascinated with cellos and was happy to learn Oshagan is trained to work with little ones. I don’t have a music background but he makes me feel like I’m competent to be my son’s instructor (at this stage). The teacher-parent-child relationship is one that he emphasizes which I love. He’s very responsive, easy to talk to, encouraging, flexible & professional.
