About Nani S.

Nandani is a lyric coloratura mezzo-soprano of German and Indian decent, known for her passionate performances and great presence. Nandani has performed with such organizations as the Los Angeles Opera, Long Beach Opera, Malibu Coast Chamber Opera, Viklarbo Chamber Ensemble, Malibu Friends of Music, the Kairos Musical Soirees, SPaCE Salon Los Angeles, Redlands Symphony, among many others. Nandani was the first-prize winner in the 2012 Franz Liszt International Competition; and in 2014 earned two additional International Prizes from the same organization, including a special award for “Best Vocal Interpretation of a Work by Franz Liszt.” As a teacher she has taught for the Los Angeles Opera as a teaching artist and concert lecturer and for Long Beach Opera as a preconcert lecturer. Her students have been accepted into the top conservatories and universities in the United States. Nandani's students have also won major vocal competitions as well as film auditions that include singing. Her teaching styles include classical, jazz, musical theater and pop. Nandani's teaching philosophy is that the journey to reach the height of technique and professionalism is how the student discovers themselves and their unique voice. I provide the student with the information necessary to guide them along the way. Singing is very personal and students who learn to sing tend to become very vulnerable during the process. Therefore, I believe in creating a safe and enthusiastic environment for my students to explore their creative selves. Enabling a singer to access their inner expression allows them to grow as a singer/artist and a person.

Nani is a an absolute gem! She immediately made our 11 year old daughter feel at ease from the minute she met her. She is always smiling and enthusiastic and very positive in the way she critiques the young singer-in training, and always encouraging! We would highly recommend her - we are fortunate to have her!

Nani is a true professional and gem of a person! I had my first lesson last night and I couldn't be happier with my experience. A novice singer, I've been intimidated by the concept of vocal lessons for some time now. Nani made me feel completely comfortable and supported. Her instruction is clear and constructive. I learned so much in 60 minutes and look forward to our work together in the future.
