Piano

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate
Above all I want students to enjoy learning the piano. Most people start because they love a certain type of music or wish they could just sit down and enjoy playing. My goal is to make that happen. I teach all ages, beginners and intermediate levels. I think that lessons for children need alot of variety so that they can learn from games, singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano. Of course, singing, clapping, movement and playing the piano are what we all need but without the stickers at the end of your lesson!

Playing the piano and loving music has been at the center of my life. Aside from the happiness and fun it can bring, learning an instrument also teaches discipline and confidence which carry over into everything.

I enjoy teaching both children and adults. As I teacher I am patient and encouraging. Lessons should be interesting and fun but also focused on my teaching you the foundations of playing and practicing.

While my background is primarily in classical music, I really enjoy exposing my students to all types of music as they learn the piano. I play the piano, harp and harpsichord and have performed in everything from solo recitals throughout the United States, music festivals and freelance work with the New York Philharmonic to musicals on broadway.

It was a pleasure to have a teacher who inspired my daughter to progress with her piano playing as quickly as she did. I would highly recommend Ms Haber for any young piano student.

I’m an older adult who has wanted to take piano lessons for some time. After 6 weeks of lessons with Nancy I am playing easy songs , tentatively, but none the less, I am playing and know piano keys and also reading music notes and understanding. She is extremely patient, funny and my time goes by very quickly. Highly recommend getting in touch with her.

I'm a beginning piano student but also a professional musician on another instrument, the oboe. What Nancy brings to her lessons is the sophistication, experience and background of a high level professional together with the knowledge of how to start someone who has never played the piano. I'm very happy with the lessons on every level and Nancy is a charming, gentle and patient teacher.

Nancy gave my daughter her first piano lesson (when she was 6 years old). My daughter was a bit nervous going in, and Nancy had her smiling and relaxed within minutes. She is a wonderful teacher but more than that is fun and great with kids. Throughout the lesson she has her doing all sorts of different activities - clapping out rhythm, searching for notes on the keyboard, etc. - and I think that makes a really big difference with kids. I really can't believe how much my daughter has learned so far!
