- Levels Taught:
- Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
Taking private lessons with me will offer you a unique opportunity to increase your skills both as a flutist and a musician. As with learning any new skill, flute playing also requires a strong foundation from the start.
Beginning students will learn:
1. Correct assembly of flute
2. Proper body position in relation to flute
3. How to produce sound while effectively using air support and air stream
4. Proper breathing techniques
5. How to read music notation
Students who are intermediate-advanced will further their development through the study of technical studies, etudes, and flute repertoire. Concepts that will be strengthened by taking lessons include: tone, technique, phrasing, vibrato, intonation, rhythm and articulation, sight-reading, and music theory among others.
Through my schooling I was fortunate to study with incredible teachers, whose playing and expertise truly inspired me. I hope to pass on what they have instilled within me to all of my students.

I am a flutist, passionate about performing and teaching. I teach flute and piano lessons out of my home-based studio in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Over the 18 years I have been playing the flute, I have come to view it as an immensely versatile instrument. Music has opened up a world of creative experiences for me; through improvisation in jazz, interpreting music as a performer, and composing original ideas.
I received my Masters of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Idaho in 2011, and a Bachelors of Music in Jazz Studies from BYU-Idaho in 2010.
I have performed in jazz festivals throughout Europe and the US. I have been a member of groups such as the Idaho Falls Symphony, Califonia All-State Honor Band, Downbeat award-winning Folsom High School Jazz Band, and various other symphonies and ensembles. In 2009, I was featured as a concerto competition winner with the BYU-Idaho Sinfonietta.
I love the Inland Northwest, and try to take advantage of living in such a beautiful place.
