I am a professional performing artist and educator who believes that anyone can learn the cello. Through discipline and determination, anything is possible. As my students progress, the more they enjoy playing the cello and making music. Not all students are alike, and I adapt my teaching to address each students unique needs. Biography: Chicago native, Miles Link, is an accomplished orchestral cellist and chamber musician. He is a Grand Prize winner at the St. Paul String Quartet Competition, the Discover Chamber Music Competition, 2nd place in the Rembrandt Chamber Music Competition and honorable mention in the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. He has appeared on WFMT’s “Introductions,” a program that features rising stars in classical music. He is currently a cellist in the Civic Orchestra of Chicago and has been a substitute cellist with the New World Symphony Orchestra since 2019. Miles received his Bachelor of Music degree from the Chicago College of Performing Arts where he studied with Chicago Symphony Orchestra cellist, Richard Hirschl. He completed a Master of Music degree at the Northwestern Bienen School of Music where he studied with esteemed cello pedagogue, Hans Jørgen Jensen. During his undergraduate years, Miles attended the Meadowmount School of Music in New York, where he studied under Hans Jørgen Jensen and Julia Lichten. While pursuing his master’s degree, he had the privilege of spending his summers in Japan attending the prestigious Pacific Music Festival. He was principal cellist there in 2018 and 2019, and had the honor of working with conductors Marin Alsop, Valery Gergiev, Christoph Eschenbach, John Axelrod, and Keitaro Harada. In addition to orchestral and chamber music, he is focused on being a cello pedagogue. Mr. Link has studied the Suzuki teaching method under the tutelage of the renowned instructor, Doctor Tanya Lesinsky Carey.
