Music is my life. Saxophone is my first love. An early band director filled the classroom with every instrument, and when he opened the case on the saxophone, I knew I wanted that beautiful instrument in my life. All these years later, I love performing, and I truly love teaching saxophone students of all ages, from beginners to advanced, to play the sax. I also teach beginning students flute and clarinet. As a performer, I commonly need to travel for some gigs, therefore even local students must be willing to do some or all lessons on Zoom. I am happy to take new students from all over the United States and even all over the world. I have a music ed degree, which most private instructors do not. This provides my students with a much broader set of teaching methods to inspire, challenge, and overcome hurdles, such as not practicing, boredom, or technical challenges. Both my education and my performing experience provide my students with the potential to learn a wide range of genres, including classical, band, marching band, big band, rock ‘n roll, jazz, and top 40. I will take beginners as young as eight or even younger based on an evaluation. I am happy to teach adults and even seniors. I can help advanced students with transitioning into performing with local groups for fun and/or profit.
