I studied jazz/fusion guitar at Berklee College of Music and have played with more people in more situations than I now remember. I love working with students at all ability levels. My passion is bringing out the artistry in my students and teaching them that music can be something that feeds your soul for the rest of your life. Are you brand new to the guitar? Are you an experienced musician looking to learn more music theory or develop your technique? I can help with that. Whatever your ability level, I can help you develop your skills. There are as many ways to approach learning music as there are musicians, and you are a musician! Here are some other aspects of music I can help with: -Learning how to solo and play lead lines. -Developing a harmonic and melodic vocabulary. -Learning the theory behind WHY guitar parts sound and feel the way they do, so you can create your own. -Learning to play the songs you love. -Learning how to play and sing at the same time. -Practice doesn't have to be miserable! Learning how to practice the right way can be relaxing, meditative, and rejuvenating. And much more. If there is something you want to learn, just ask!

I've had several guitar teachers over the years and have to say that Michael is the most patience, careful, and attentive instructors I've had the pleasure of learning from. He has the ability to break down the overwhelming mysteries of playing the guitar into achievable goals and I feel like I've progressed steadily ever since starting with him. He's helpful at understanding where I want to grow as a musician and helps fill in my musical blind spots, so I feel like I have the habits of a real professional, even if I'm just learning for fun. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to to have fun, or even bring their professional musicianship to the next level!

I was recommended to Mike by my friend Tony. Mike is structured, focused, and encouraging. I was having a tough time with learning some basics and Mike helped me improve everything from proper posture, to volume control and generally helped me improve on just about everything. Looking forward to more lessons and definitely recommend Mike to anyone looking for a great teacher.
