VO & Animation Technique With Working Pro (30+ years experience)

I've been told I go way above what’s expected from a teacher. It's easy when you enjoy what you do. Voice acting is my favorite kind of acting. Telling stories with just your voice - or so it seems! (More on that when we meet : ) In our sessions we'll have an attitude of curiosity and openness to exploration -- and we'll have our share of laughs. I'll supply you with fresh scripts to work from for both Commercials and Animation, if you'd like, and we'll have a good time taking a deep dive into connecting with an invisible scene partner and using your life experiences to make your reads unique and authentic. As a working professional, my creative toolbox is loaded with tips and techniques, and it brings me great joy to share my many favorites to help you in pursuing your goals.

About Melissa G.

I help both beginning and pro actors tune into their creative impulses so they can perform unique and bookable voice-over auditions. I also teach VO technique and share the most up to date approaches to keeping your work sounding fresh and of the moment. During our sessions I'll give you warmups to incorporate into your preparation and help you get out of your head and into your body. We also talk about the best ways to self-direct since so much material is being recorded in our own homes these days. And most importantly, I encourage my students to approach our sessions with a sense of play and being open to the joy of spontaneity. After all, that's where our originality lies! I've been working as a professional actor for over 30 years. I work on-camera in TV and film, as well as in voiceover/animation and on the stage. I've seen the industry move through a variety of trends and feel it is extremely important to stay up to date on what the industry is asking for now. I love what I do and am very excited to meet and work with you!

This was my first time taking a course for voice acting. I've taken voice lessons so some of what I learned there were definitely fundamentals in Melissa's course as well. Melissa was very engaging, and created a personable learning environment for the group session that I took. I'm definitely going to take lessons with Melissa again.
