About Meg C.
Hello! I am a state-certified teacher who taught for 6 years in NYC public schools. I received Masters Degrees at Fordham University in both teaching English literature in grades 7-12 and teaching students with disabilities.
I have experience teaching general education students and ESL students, as well as those with special needs such as Autism, learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and the gifted and talented. I have tutored students in algebra, basic Spanish, and reading/writing at all levels from emerging to advanced. I also have experience tutoring in English as a foreign language, from beginner classes to those geared towards preparing for the TOEFL.
I am dedicated to my students’ academic and emotional growth, and I aim at all times to reach the whole student. As a tutor, I strive to nurture in my students the skills they need to become successful, whether they are trying to excel at school or simply develop a hobby. I design and teach lessons that emphasize core reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills in the context of larger ideas, based on both students’ needs and interests.
I strive to inspire in my students a true enjoyment for learning. To that end, I design lessons that are clear, well structured, and engaging. I work with students who have a wide range of needs and interests, and I differentiate lessons accordingly. Though I am certified to teach adolescents, I have experience tutoring students as young as 5 years old, as well as those well into adulthood. I am experienced in test prep, study skills, TOEFL prep, and ESL, and I enjoy tutoring students from a myriad of backgrounds.
I look forward to helping you grow and learn with lesson that are engaging, effective, and fun!
