    About Madison U.

Since 2010, I've been sculpting the stars of tomorrow, guiding aspiring talents on their journey to the limelight. With a repertoire of directing masterpieces like "Clue!", "Singin' In The Rain", "Sister Act", and "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," my experience speaks volumes. Notably, my directorial prowess shone bright with "Property Rites," an internationally acclaimed play that bagged prestigious awards. My BFA Acting training forms the bedrock of my expertise, polished further during a stint coaching under the brilliant Alex Brightman in the heart of New York.

I worked under Mr. Upendo while he was directing "Property Rites" and it was a fun time. He had us do character work where we answered questions from our characters' perspectives to understand them better. He made sure we were learning important parts of our show, like our song and how to move in unison despite not being able to look directly at each other. He also helped me personally with my physicality during my monologue, which helped a lot since I was struggling with how to move naturally for my character.

As a student, I value teachers that give insightful and valuable feedback. When I receive feedback, I am looking for comments that will allow me to continue to grow as an artist. Mr. Upendo is a teacher that I can truly depend on to give me great constructive criticism and push me to be my best. In the classroom, he always creates a warm and welcoming environment that promotes learning. He always is looking for ways to improve so he can continue to be the best version of himself, which is truly admirable. He handles situations with grace and humility. He is an amazing teacher now, and he will only continue to grow and do great things in the future.
