Drum Lessons
So you've finally decided to fulfill your life long dream of learning to play a musical instrument? Or perhaps you did play many years ago, and would love to pick it up again? Or maybe you're a fluent player of another instrument, but have always had an affinity for drums & percussion? Either way, you've arrived at the right place. I have been playing and teaching drum set professionally for over 20 years. I've studied privately under Joseph D. Mitchell (percussionist for the LA Phil Harmonic and professor at Los Angeles City College). I also hold a Music Business degree, issued from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA). Curriculum: The beginning student will learn the four basic drum strokes (natural, down, tap & up) / to read modern drum notation / proper sticking techniques for various applications / all standard rudiments, as recognized by the Percussive Society of America / playing to a click track / creative drum fills / odd meter patterns, and many styles including; jazz, funk, fusion, blues, rock, R&B, hip hop, reggae, world music and orchestral. Lessons are held at my project recording studio near downtown Los Angeles. On two sets: An acoustic muffled practice kit, used during the Rudiment & Sight Reading portions of the lesson. As well as an 8 piece Roland Electronic virtual drum set, used during the Drum Set Application portion of the session. Which allows for real time play along with lesson material or any of your favorite songs.

I took drum lessons with Khalil last year and I could not have been happier. We clicked right away. He is such a cool, easy going teacher. I learned so much. I wanted to learn more rudiments to get better around the kit and he delivered. Thanks man!
