Experienced teacher of 6 years specializing in voice, music theory, piano, and acting. As someone who dreaded lessons as a child (shh...don't tell my mom!), I strive to make our learning environment laid back and fun, which directly translates to more enjoyable and productive sessions for you! I curate a specific lesson program for each student so they learn the material they enjoy and the skills needed to achieve their unique goals. If you're looking to improve your skills and have some fun along the way, shoot me a message!

About Karalyn J.

I am a music director, theater director, arranger, and performer with degrees in music and theater from Harvard University. I am currently the music director of a world-touring jazz a cappella group and the artistic director and acting teacher at an inclusive and accessible theater company.

I grew up as your stereotypical "theater/choir kid," performing in over 50 community and professional musical theater productions, singing in NAFME All-State and ACDA National choirs, and jamming out to music with friends. During college, I developed my oddly intense love/appreciation of music theory thanks to an incredible professor who taught her course almost entirely through Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Harry Potter music. I have taken private voice lessons for 10 years, studying with various teachers with specialties in classical, musical theater, jazz, Alexander technique, and a unique YogaSing method. I have studied acting for 6 years, although I've been performing for much longer, and have advanced training in Shakespearean acting, improv, and monologue studies.

I teach students of all ages, levels, and learning styles (including students that identify as disabled or as having special needs). You can expect our lessons to be fun, productive, and tailored specifically to your tastes and goals!
