I have been playing trumpet for 11 years, studying and performing classical, orchestral, jazz, and
pop music. As a junior at the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, I have studied with numerous professional trumpet players that have taught me varied ways to look at proper breathing, sound, range, and technique.  I specialize in jazz at UCLA and can teach advanced improvisational and soloing techniques,
sight-reading, and ear-training as well.
First and foremost, I will share the knowledge I've amassed about
trumpet fundamentals to help you understand what body techniques produce beautiful tone and sounds on
the horn. From there, I will help guide you to sound any way you'd like, whether it be punctuated and
crisp like Wynton Marsalis, or smooth and airy like Miles Davis.
Secondly, I will guide your progress and make sure you stay away from bad habits. As a
dedicated listener and observer, I will help you recognize things about your playing you may not even
realize are happening during your practice, such as tensing up, overblowing, posture, etc. Correcting these
on a regular basis will help you stay on track to becoming the best musician you can be!

My name is Jules, and I am a junior at UCLA studying music and trumpet performance. I can't wait to share all I've learned from trumpet professionals in the industry with you!  I know that private lessons are usually hard to afford, so my pricing is low in order to make them accessible for you. I can teach all levels, beginner to advanced.

Jules is not only an awesome trumpet teacher/player,  but he is also an amazing person! He has taught me so much about jazz improvisation and trumpet playing in general and I have had a ton of fun along the way due to his friendly and funny personality. I would definitely recommend Jules to any trumpet players looking to improve their playing and learn more about music.

Jules is an absolutely incredible trumpet player and teacher. He’s extremely approachable, and has a phenomenal jazz vocabulary and endless suggestions to help you improve tone, improvisation, and practicing techniques. He’s helped me a lot with my own technique, articulations, and foundation for jazz improvisation over the past year. I would definitely recommend him if you are trying to improve any aspect of your playing!

Jules has an incredibly deep understanding of music/trumpet that is clearly evident in his teachings. He is very good at explaining complex concepts in simpler terms which makes learning much more efficient. Also an incredible soloist, he knows and can probably teach most genres of trumpet repertoire to students!
