I've loved music for as long as I can remember. I sang constantly as a child and my mom started me on piano at age 8. By the time I was 12, I wanted to be a rock star and I convinced my parents to let me play electric guitar at 13. My guitar and I have been inseparable ever since.

I started teaching shortly after finishing high school. I remember giving a friend from high school, who was a few years behind me, lessons on both guitar and bass (he was going to be my replacement as the bass guitarist in the high school concert and marching bands). I reconnected with him recently and he told me that he never forgot the lessons I gave him because my style of teaching made becoming a complete musician easier.

I still teach the same concepts that I taught my friend 25 years ago, but I've refined them into a skills-based curriculum that I call the "Three Pillars of Guitar Mastery." It is a step-by-step, cumulative progression of lessons that develops the three most important aspects of musicianship as a guitarist simultaneously. When combined with instruction in efficient practice and accelerated learning techniques, the skills I teach can take you as far as you want to go as a guitarist.

From blues to jazz, to rock & roll and all of the styles that were born from them, the overall musicianship you will develop applies to all of them.

I look forward to meeting you, sharing my love of music and guitar, and helping you become the guitarist you want to be.

As a teacher with a master's degree in music education and over 25 years of music teaching experience myself, I know what it takes to be a great teacher. I have known John since high school. We were in many bands together in our formative years. He has become a great musician. His knowledge of technique, theory, and musicianship is exhaustive. John is also a great teacher with a very approachable, relaxed demeanor which makes learning laid back and fun. I could not recommend John enough.
